Traded with my brother who has let it sit in his safe unfired since he bought it new in 1980. It's a .357, and bro put the stags on it soon after the purchase:

That's mighty Purdy there Brat....How many body parts did you have to trade for it?

A 2nd Generation Colt 1851 Navy (NIB), a Ruger New Vaquero .357 (NIB) stainless, and an old Hi-Standard .22 Sentinel.
Never did the black powder thing with the Navy. Can always get another Ruger.
The case colors are still bright as new (the cellphone pic doesn't do them justice) and the stags are really nice:

On my side of the tracks I have the Uberti and Ruger with birdshead handles, like you say, not a Pony but close as I'll probably get.
Thanks for the pics Army.

I'm a S&W revolver guy to the bone.
But that Colt looks sweeter than all my S&W revolvers.
Well Done!

Congrats on the new Colt. I know you're eager to shoot it but Colt cautions that shooting it will seriously affect what they call "collector value". My safe queen is a NIB .45 Colt SA w/ 4 3/4" barrel (a Xmas gift from my missus) and after reading the Colt brochure, I went with a Cimarron "clone" as a shooting gun. Your choice and I've seen many Colt owners happily using their SAs in spite of Colt's caution.

The 3rd Generation SAA Colts (particularly the .357) are not really considered a collectable by serious collectors, or so they claim on the Colt Forum. They were made to shoot, IMO.
Besides, I already have a Colt Texas Sesquicentennial .45 SAA that hasn't even been turned. Ain't gonna shoot that one. This newest gun I bought to shoot.
Just put the original grips back on (& the stags in the safe):
