View Full Version : May have to go back to my old Podner
I'm sure reading and hearing a lot about broken this and broken that with these here Kahr guns.
CW 45 was the first gun I ever had to send back for repair in over 60 years of packin' iron.
Had to do repairs twice on the little woman's CW 45.
The two of us gotta long way to go to trust these little rascals..

I may just have to go back to my old packin' podner until I'm sure I can trust these plastic critters for EDC.
This one is 99 years old and ain't missed a lick as long as I've owned it.

Is that a 38-44 Heavy Duty? Am I close on that guess?
Mine is a 1915 vintage .455 HE MKII. Barrel and cylinder have been replaced with post WWII .45ACP parts. Now capable of firing 45 Auto Rim, 45 ACP and 45 Winchester Magnum brass loaded to "old" .45 Colt pressures using moon clips, and .45 Colt.
You sure could call it an ancestor of the 38/44 HD. They used the same "N" frame. The 38/44 HD had an ejector shroud under the barrel.

Nice! Sounds like one versatile revolver!
First six shots.

Some's more accurate than others, but they all go bang and get out the front end.
Nice to see something old being appreciated....

Fyi. The few Kahrs I own are all I need to tent my semi-auto britches. When I go to a gun show, I'm looking at revolvers... Pretty firearms IMHO. Thanks for the posts Iggy. :)

Revolvers I got. The Kahrs are my first venture into modern pistols. I've got a pair of 1911 style 10mms. Everything else has a wheel in the middle.

It's very comforting to be confident in what you are shooting. Having said that, I'm very comforted by my CM9 and P380. Make me feel all warm and fuzzy when I'm carrying them. :)
Itchy and I are goin' out and pop some more caps through the CW45s today. We both like them. If that side plate don't blow off and we don't have any glitches
I reckon we'll be packin the little rascals.
Shure beat's packin' a pound or two of iron and only 6 shots.
Itchy's decision to move up from a .38 to a .45 kinda tells you how easy shooting the Kahr is.

Itchy sounds like my kind of girl. I collect cyber brides (kind of a chick magnet).
Would you see if she'd like to marry me? No strings attached, we don't even exchange photo's, none of that sneaky immoral stuff or nuthing.
Watch out for any offers from Jocko though, I can't vouch for him.

Bawanna,
Nah, I better not. She's younger than me and has held up better. I kinda keep her secluded, kinda like blinders on a mule so's she don't see that she has any options.
Appreciate the warning about Jocko. I'm still enuff of a judge of people to see a feller orta kinda circle around him. ;):D

Well you kind of hit me in a soft spot, I do love me a good mule, blinders or no blinders. Take a good mule over a horse any day.
Probably best to keep her under wraps, no harm in my case on account a your better looking than me, by a very slim margin but would open the door to shopping and just no need for that.
It's good to know you understand mules and about wimmen..
You notice I sed "about wimmen", not that you "understand wimmen".. You may be a purty smart feller, but.......http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p246/Iggy25/evil_zps20195143.gif

A lot of similarities when you get right down to it.

Iggy - Does that target say 1/3 moon clips? I've seen half moon clips and full moon clips but I'm guessing they make some that hold 2 rounds?
Yup, they make clips that hold two rounds. I got them to carry spare rounds in watch pocket of my britches. Found that half moons work better. The twofers are a pain to put rounds in and take out. I haven't found a "moon/demooning tool" that works on them. I have to use a pair of vise grips to remove the empty brass.

That is a significant downfall to moon clips, they are all hard to unmoon.
Great way to carry reloads though. You just want a whole bunch of them so your not loading em at the range.

Why is it that every post has to end up in the gutter. A discussion on mooning. And Bawanna is a moderator, too. Unbelievable!
OMG!!! I guess I have sinned.. Please forgive me!!:blushing:
I'm gone!!:(

Guess that's one of things I miss most from my vertical days is mooning.
Iggy, your not going anyplace. Pedro offers you his protection.

I agree Muggsy, it makes me sick that we can't keepoin topic anymore. I certainlly try togive it my best shot as I very seldome get off topic. Just sayin. If onlyt this form would follow ol jocko's lead. Not saying the colonel is the worst for getting off topic, but he could possbly be an instructor in that field. Just sayin. I have tried to work with him in private emails but his private emails are also way off topic to. so I just give up.
theyu outta let ol jockop be the "OFF TOPIC" COP. Icould straighten up this issue real fast...

I would not rule out all plastic guns as unreliable, just certain ones that seem, or have been proved as unreliable.
