View Full Version : Second trip to the range!

Second Try

Picked up my first Kahr last Friday, a CT9. After a thorough cleaning and lubrication following instructions from this site I went to the range and while the gun performed well, I didn't! The second trip today went much better I moved in from 25 yards to seven and while my 50 round group wasn't great (or even very good) all rounds would fit under a dinner plate. No issues with the gun, I even was able to "slingshot" the last two mags. Will probably get back Friday. Retirement and a wonderful wife that loves to shoot is greatl!

MOP = minute of pie plate = well done! Perfect for a self defense pistol.

Good deal. If I only had the retirement part that you have I'd be set.

You hit the target so there’s no problem, defensive shooting is all about hits. Enjoy the new gun and you’ll get better with time. Start close and work out from there

At 21' I'll keep most of my shots within a 3" circle shooting rapid fire. With a little practice you will, too. Unless your a practiced double action revolver shooter the trigger takes a little getting used to. Once you master it shooting good groups becomes easy. Jocko is famous for his one hole groups. :)

Folks will argue with me on this.
But I really believe most self defense situations happen at a lot closer than 25 yards.
Armed Robbery, Carjacking, even Home Defense - IMHO is usually up close and personal.

Barth, +1. I certainly won't argue with you about that. I think it's more like 5-7 yards.
Second Try, you definitely get better. I know I did after just a couple range trips. Ain't too hot at 25 yards. At 5 yards I'm deadly. :D

start close and then work iN FROM there, works great for me. the fact that I canhit anything at 25 yards would require me to always have by my side, 1. a shooting bench, 2, sandbag, 3. big ass target. 4 scoped handgun. Just sasyin.
