View Full Version : Trigger guard on CM9 tight on finger

I have big hands, and the first joint in my trigger finger is slightly enlarged, probably arthritis, but no pain. My finger squeezes between the trigger and the trigger guard on my CM9 when I pull through to shoot. The trigger guard is designed with a slight curve into the trigger space. Has anyone ever seen a mod to straighten the curve, or grind (I know, ouch!) about 1/8 inch off the inside bottom of the guard?

If I can't resolve this, I am going to trade it in for a Glock 43. Thanks for any info.

The only remedy I can fathom is to try using different parts of your trigger finger: first pad, first joint or even second pad. That might be enough to make a difference. Otherwise, if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. Would be a shame tho.

u will luv the G43, once you get the gritty trigger system smoothed out.

You might be able to contour the trigger a bit...

I have the same problem. I've never understood why the trigger guard is curved in like that. But it's not a range gun, I won't notice if I have to use it.

I don't see alot of difference in the trigger guard on the Glock 43 (which I own and the PM9 which I own. ) I guess if someone has ultra big finners, it could be an issue on both. I am wondering if maybe to much finneris being inserted in that trigger guard. They say use the front pad of ur fnner. Just sayin.

NBo doubt it can be dremeled or even dry filed downb with no danger to the gun and if done neatly would never be noticed. I canb say if ur gonna front pocket carry the G43 is just that much differnce in size that it is b ulky compard the the PM or CM series kahrs. Alot of these damn wrangler jeans have very shallow vbront pcke5ts and I always check that pocket of any jean that I buy to make sure that is no issue..

When I use the forefinger, I pull something fierce. The best for me is to wrap my finger around the trigger, that way it stays pointing straight, but my finger gets pinched. But I like the trigger pull a whole lot better than those other things.

I don't think that it would be too difficult to reshape the trigger guard with a file and sand paper, but like Jocko said you may not be pressing the trigger correctly. the trigger should be pressed with the center of the pad of your index or trigger finger. The first joint shouldn't come into play. It may if you have very large hands, but with practice you should be able to work around it. Kahr has a generous trigger guard for the size of the gun. It's designed to be able to be fired with a gloved hand.

In the "olden days" we put trigger shoes on our guns that did not fit our hands.

Funny you mention that....................I have a Flaig Ace # 13 that fits FN, Dayton Traister trigger, Canjar trigger, and Husqvarna trigger HVA model. Don't know ANYONE who uses these models regularly, I would happily give it to them.:)

well ur trigger finger position is not what most gun trainers would recommend, but if that is what makes u well good, then we can only advise based on the what most of use allhave been trained in doing. One can maswter a bad habit. The theoryt behind the pad on the forefinner is that u are pulling directly backwards. Wrapping ur finner around that trigger will not do that.

I have been n this forum since day 1, and I just don't remember anyone coming here with your issuewith the kahr trigger guard area....

Your Dremmel and some Flitz on that knuckle might help...LOL I have the same problem with my P380 but not my CM9. I've thought about taking the trigger out of the 380 and having my welder TIG a little material on the end and shape it back down. I haven't done it yet because it's really only bothersome after 100 rounds or so. I'm good with it as is for SD purposes.

I have big hands and big fingers, and had some pinching when I bought my CM9. I do know that the first joint was coming into play since it was riding on the edge of the trigger. I had not thought any more about it until I saw your post above. Now I realize that the problem is no longer an issue. Not sure if I have unconsciously repositioned my finger or what.

Well, it's not as bad as that. I don't shoot my other two pistols like that. It probably doesn't matter, I can't hit the barn with it anyway.

It's even worse when you install a crimson trace. Seems to take up a lot of trigger finger space.

I like that "getting inside the barn first" idea. I usually just shoot first and call whatever I hit the target.
