I'm considering the Kahr CM9
front trijicon sight but according to Trigicon the sight is about 6 years old. Has anyone bought one and if so was it bright enough?
Thanks.

Maybe I'm missing something...
Are you looking at a CM9 with night sights that are approximately 6 years old?
In my experience Trijicon sights are good for at least 10 years. IIRC, Trijicon says they should be serviceable for 12 years.
If you have to have the tritium inserts replaced by Trijicon I believe it's only $50 or so.

How do you know it is six years old? Did you get a serial number off the sight and check with them?
Obviously, you want as new as possible. I just bought a Trijicon night sight set for my CW380 from Kahr.com. They are very bright, so they seem newer manufacturer. If you know of a way to check manufacture date, pls advise!

And to answer your question, no, you should not buy a Trijicon sight that has six year old tritium. Not unless you are getting a deep discount like half off.

I've replaced the front poly sights on my CW40 & CM9 with Kahr's Trijicon front night sight. IMO this is the way to go for a carry gun. Installation was quick & easy and after 1 yr they are still nice & bright & wont pop off either...

The green/yellow Tritium sights have a half life of 12 years... lose half their original brightness by year 12. After over 12 years my K9's sights seemed harder to acquire in the dark, so I got them re-tubed at the factory... a service Trijicon offers for THEIR sights. I mailed the slide to Trijicon and it took about 2 weeks to get the sights back looking like new... even with the dates, etc. on the sights. It cost me $6-8 to mail the slide and they did the work and shipped them back to me for $58.
The orange Tritium sights have only a 5-6 year half life, so keep that in mind if you're wanting different colors for front and rear.
I got my new front sight from MBSL500 with a date of 2013, which is fine. You can find sights on the racks or shelves at the gun stores that have been sitting there for a LONG time and their useful life is greatly diminished.
I've replaced lots of sights at about 12 years, or perceived dimming... all of the front ones... which are the most important.
If only Trijicon would add Kahr to the HD NS list... those are my favorites... the yellow dot front sights my favorite. I did try the orange, but preferred the yellow on my Glocks.
Safe handling of the night sights is important. The glass vials holding the Tritium glass can be broken by rough handling, which includes removal of the FS from a Glock by pushing the FS off with a "pin" from inside the screw hole. I know this, because I swapped my orange FS with another guy who had Yellow and wanted Orange. I used secure and protected packaging to send mine, which arrived safely. His arrived in a regular letter envelope with about a dozen tight wraps of newspaper around the FS. It was DOA and I checked it out with a loupe and could see some kind of mark on the Tritium tube through the screw hole. He said he had used a punch, but it had to be pretty small and was probably a paper clip! I was able to get it replaced by Trijicon and it cost me a few more bucks to send it to them, but I hated misrepresenting the damage.
Anyhow, don't be banging on the Tritium sights... just use a press on the bases and don't put pressure on the round part where the tube is installed!

My Big Dot night sight for a Shield has the year on the sight.
No way would I pay extra for a sight that is six years old. My sight is 4 years old and I can see a difference vs a new sight.

I looked on kahr site. And I didn't see a front night sight for cw series. Where are you all finding these?

There are these: http://www.kahr.com/Sights/Kahr-CWCM-Trijicon-Night-Sights.asp
and these for the CW380: http://www.kahr.com/Sights/Kahr-CW380-Night-Sight-Kit.asp
You can also just buy the front sight (on page 2 of Kahr's sights)

Went to Kahr, found one for my CW 380 quickly. Will be ordering one next month.

Is there more than one front sight Trijicon option for the CM-9? Part number? Thanks.
