Back then men were men and the women were glad of it. Matt could take it and dish it out. Of course, he had Doc to patch him up and Miss Kitty to nurse him back to health. He also had a bit of luck on his side. During the intro the bad guy always shot first but couldn't hit squat. There's no truth to the rumor that the part of the bad guy was played by Jocko. Matt always drilled him center mass and Jocko bears no scars.

And he had script writers. Just sayin'. ;)

James Arness was the perfect Matt Dillon. Glad John Wayne did not accept the role.
Peter Graves, the Brother of "James Arness" was the original Mr. Phelps on the T.V. series Mission Impossible.

I understand that before Arness was cast, Don Knots was first offered the role of Matt Dillon. Don refused it on the grounds they would only allow him to carry one bullet. He accepted the next, similar role, and history was made. True story... I think. :lie:

Clearly Matt Dillon is a Vampire.
After X seasons he had to change his name and move.

If you were 6'5" you might have qualified to pick a fight with Matt Dillon. Couldn't have him beatin' up on someone 5'8" now could we?
BTW, I think Matt's horse wore out and had to be shot at around 8 yr. old, but Chester's horse lived to a ripe old age of 29. Festus' horse is still alive today.

Must be true. Nobody could make up a story like that.
