I took my nephew to shoot his first ever trap. He's 14, a Boy Scout, and been around firearms but never shot trap or any clays game. He borrowed Smiley's youth 20ga. He was nervous. Not about shooting...but about not hitting anything. The look on his face when he broke his first bird was precious. I suspect I had the same look on my face too. He did well for his first time breaking 6 and 7 birds. It's uncanny how a youngster can instinctively point and shoot.
His dad's gonna hate me as now he needs to go shopping for a shotgun. ;)

Good for him..................................I remember the first time I shot clay birds, it was a lot of fun indeed. We had a manual thrower, until we had the opportunity to shoot clays from a house. I had a Savage single shot 20ga. crack open, which was surprisingly accurate. Bought it for $20, sold it for $20...........................those WERE the days. Hope he continues.

Jocko, the clay pigeons don't have to be cleaned. That's why they are so great. Just heat 'em up in the microwave and slather 'em with melted butter.
