Just bought a new PM9 and will be taking it to the range in the next couple of days for the suggested 200 rd. break in. Just wondering if anybody has ammo suggestions for the break in? Are PM9's ammo sensitive, or should I be able to run pretty much anything through it for the break in?

I just used 4, 50-round boxes of Magtech 124gr FMJ. The package states it is at 1130 fpm but I don't think it is that hot out of the PM-9. After that, I ran about 110 rounds of various defense ammo through it including Gold Dot 124 +P, Corbon Powerball, and Corbon 115 JHP. I had horible luck with the Corbon 115 JHP.

I know sometimes budget is the limiting factor, but I would buy at least a 50 round box of whatever my "carry" round was going to be and put all but the rounds that will fit in two mags down range to verify feeding. More ideally, buy 100 rounds and shoot 86 of it to verify function.

I went to wally world and picked up Federal FMJ @ $9:47 a box. I have around 600 FMJ through it...and I have shot a few different JHP and no issues. I carry, lol, Corbon in it. I have shot 80 rounds through it with no issues. Pricey, but I wanted to be sure.

For break in and target shooting WW box from Walley World. No issues in over 400 rounds. I walk in and ask the greeter in a very angry manner . Wher's the bullets I need some right away.:D

I have mentioned this a few times around here.

If you shoot with a laser (crimson trace LG 437), use the federal brand if you can find it. It is the cleanest ammo I have used. For example, if I use winchester or remington or american eagle, I have to wipe and clean the laser lens after about 25 rounds because the visibility of the red dot is reduced. The lens is quite fouled with soot. I can shoot 200 rounds of federal, and the laser lens is clean and does not need any wiping. The last time out with federal, the lens looked like I had not even shot anything--clean as a whistle. :)

Thanks for the input. Just got back from the range where I put Blazer, and the Wal Mart cheapo Federal through my new PM9. No problems at all!

For breaking in and range use, I used either WWB in the 100 rd box, or Remington personal defense that also comes in the 100 rd box. I prefer the Remington. I have also used Remington to shoot IDPA matches.
