I'm an old man long past my military days and taps still brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it played.

In high school I used to play taps on the trumpet at every military funeral in my home town. As I played I always heard the words in my mind. And yes, it makes my eyes water every time I hear it. However, I always thought the words were: "From the hills, from the lake, from the sky." Just a little different order than the post.

I always knew the first verse, but never heard of the other two. Very moving.
