I took my cw380 to the range today and had mixed results. To prep the pistol I racked the slide 200 times and then took the gun apart. I polished the chamber, used some 1500 wet/dry sand paper to wipe the rails on the slide and frame. I sanded anything that looked like it was rubbing with the 1500. I sanded the inner and outer sides of the magazine lips with the 1500. The bolt face was rough so I used 400, 900, and then the 1500. It was still not very smooth though. I cleaned and oiled well during assembly. At the range I shot 50 rounds of Remington followed by 50 rounds of Winchester white box without cleaning. I had a total of 10 failure to return to battery divided evenly between the to ammos. Half of the FRTB were just a half inch or less short and a push with the thumb seated them. The other half had the round jammed between the chamber and bolt face of the slide at a slight nose up angle. When I got home I went to work on the bolt face and extractor and have them much smoother now. I also did a bit of polishing on the feed ramp even though it didn't look like it needed it. I then polished the top lip of the chamber to make sure it is smooth. Hopefully this will eliminate the problem. I am open to any ideas and suggestions. I really want the next 100 rounds to feed flawlessly.

I really want the next 100 flawless too. I think you just need to shoot it some more and it should work itself out.

Good solid grip.

There is no substitute for shooting the gun to properly break it in. Keep it clean and well lubed. After two hundred rounds misfeeds should be rare or nonexistent.

Wow, you have done it up. My CW380 had probably a few more issues than yours during the first 100 or so rounds. All I did was clean it initially, and after shooting and it all worked itself out. Part of it was my grip I think. It is so much smaller than my other pistols, I had to figure out another way to hold it. I did that my second trip out. So, between the gun working in and me figuring out the gun, it is all good.

If it does not clear up after the next 100 rounds I would send it back to Kahr without fooling with it anymore. I made the mistake of trying to fix it myself by polishing, cleaning, etc and after 400 rounds mine still failed to go into battery quite often. I sent it to Kahr and in 11 days I had it back. It has worked flawlessly since.

Wonder how many of the failures occurred with WWB? My Kahr 380s don't like flat-nosed fmj.

I had a few issues with my CW380 but nothing crazy. My trigger pin walked but I fixed that with the DIY here. The other issues I thought I was having was light strikes but ended up being bad reloads. Ive shot both round and flat nose ammo and no issues with either. The only thing I did before the maiden range trip was to clean and lube it. I didnt polish or mod anything and shot it with no issues. Didnt even rack the slide 200+ times. I figured shooting it would do that for me :)

What I did/do is replaced the oil with a product called superlube, a synthetic grease. I dab it on in the areas defined by the lubrication guide and haven't had any problems at all.

It can be found at most hardware and auto parts store. A tube will last a couple lifetimes unless you use it on just about anything, like I do. Doesn't attract dirt or grit, stays in place and wont migrate into areas that you don't want it in.

I have been using superlube on all my automatics but only on the rails still use Ballistol on the rest.

Back to the range today. 100 rounds, all Remington. #13 was a stove pipe. It was shot by a girl that had never fired a pistol before. Her next five were fine. 100 rounds and just the stove pipe at 13. I followed up with 24 rounds of Remington jacketed hollow points I intend to carry. I am very pleased with 111 clean rounds and feel confident it is reliable and good to carry now. I do not regret the time I spent sanding and polishing. If I had had a problem at 175 I would have wanted to put at least another 50 through the gun before I deemed it trustworthy. I am retired and tinker anyway so it was either the new pistol or something else to occupy me. Great gun, feels good in the hand and shoots nice. A good cleaning and oiling and load it up with my carry rounds. No more 25 degree range days.

That is a good report. Been chilly on my side of the hill too. I'm ready for summer.
