Hey, new to the site. Since this is the "other" firearms area, thought I'd throw up some pics of my 10mm boomer...Glock 40 MOS 6" inch barrel, 9" inch slide! Great for pocket carry...http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i374/rowdy115/IMG_20151120_205337130_zpsemu3f9le.jpg

And for anyone who's curious about 10mm or is unfamiliar, that's a 200 grain XTP Underwood 10mm next to a 180 grain Federal HST .40, just for a size comparison. Same size diameter, just a tad more wallup behind that bullet! It's a blast to shoot for sure...but it certainly ain't cheap!

Thanks for the pictures of the pocket pistol. I would really like to see a picture of the pocket it fits into.

hahaha. Yeah, I don't even carry this pistol. I actually hunt (or attempt to hunt) white tail deer with it during MO's Alternative Methods season. It's just one of those fun guns I got...:)

I just figured you had big pockets and women who don't mind that you look happy to see them!

I carry either a government model or a CCO model 1911 from time to time and have done so for 15 years. 200 grain bullet is still doing more at a 100 yards than a .45 ACP at the muzzle.
Very effective round.

I had a running "1911" 10mm before Colt had their Delta Elite announced! Beat 'em by a little bit. Irving Stone (BarSto) made up a series of test barrels for Colt's when they were toying with the 10mm. I got one of the over-runs from that production, and with a few names dropped (given to me by Irv) I was able to get a set of 10mm Bren dies from Huntington Die Specialties. I think they supplied one box of 10mm bullets too. BarSto gave me 20 pieces of Norma brass... and I used 38Super loadings as a starting point, along with Wilson 45 magazines, which "just" held the 10mm ok, as long as the load wasn't too hot.

Once I was able to get Delta mags, I added a weighty "bushing comp" and never really looked back with full house loads. I ended up giving that gun to the guy who owned the range where I was employed, and he's still got it and it runs just fine.

Yeah. I'm a newbie when it comes to 10mm. This is my first one. Just got it a couple months ago. I bought a Lone Wolf conversion barrel for it to shoot some .40 through it which is definitely cheaper. I plan to put an optic on before next deer season if I can find a good deal on something decent. Trying to do my research on optics now to figure out what I want. Don't know a lot about them. The gun comes set up with some adapter plates to mount various name brand optics to it so no fabrication needed! :)

I do believe 40's can be hand loaded into the 10mm chamber, behind the extractor, one at a time, if need be.... if memory serves correctly

I've seen lots of people just shoot .40 through their 10mm Glocks with zero modifications. I chose not to do that because its hard on the extractor. That's why I just got the conversion barrel. I still use the 10mm mags with the .40 ammo and it runs like a dream.

Nah... old wives tale on the extractor design like Glock's or Kahr's, S&W or HK or SIG or or or... just about any except an ill fitting 1911 or old style BHP extractor (the two I can think of at the moment).

Long leaf spring extractors that are not well fit, can break when "snapping" over a rim. You'll never snap over the rim of a 40 in a 10mm chamber btw.

Spring loaded pivoting extractors don't have that problem. Witness the extractor in an AR design, or any machine gun design, going full auto over and over... snapping over that rim each time. The extractors are not spring temper, but treated to be tough. A spring behind them does the oomph and flex, so the extractor itself doesn't have to bend in order to snap over the rim.

This comes up almost as much as the "dry firing will break your firing pin" sort of tale too... which is very specific to some old shotguns (like Lefever ... others too but Lefever comes to mind) and of course, old .22 RF's that had no firing pin stop would dent the chamber if you dry fired them. Center fire rifles... good to go. Center fire pistols, good to go. Modern shottys, good to go. Modern RF's... good to go.

Hmmm. Well, it makes no difference no really. I already bought the conversion barrel and have been using it. Oh well. The conversion barrel is standard cut rifling so if I wanted to shoot hard cast lead through it I suppose it would be a better choice, but I never have so far. Thanks for the info though sir. Now I know. The conversion barrel looks cool anyway though...haha :)

No offense I see the 10 mm as a cartridge looking for a reason to exist.

You are certainly not alone with that opinion. Not too many 10mm fans out there. No offense taken :)

I like it. But.... Not for any other reason than its power and capacity.

Sayin that, I probably wont get another. Nor 44mag. Nor 357 mag. I cant do it with 45acp or 38sp....it dont need doing. I got 9mm because of yhe Brownings. Yah...got the Pm9 too, but its my second string.
