View Full Version : Why/How can I get a T9? Kahr says they're still making them... but....

I'm interested in a Kahr T9.... but none out there anywhere I can find... Wasn't sure they're still being made- heard yes, heard no.... so after getting no response to an email to Kahr online customer service, I I called Kahr sales/customer service. They said yes, they are still making them. I asked if they could tell me any stocking dealers, but they said no. They simply sell to their wholesalers, then the dealers get their guns from them.
So I start looking at the official Kahr dealer listing... and 2 of them are local to me here in Maine. The first one spent some time online looking- and finally said he couldn't get one from his distributor. The 2nd one- same story. They told me not available. Both official Kahr dealers.
So I call Kahr back.... and ask again- and again, they say that their dealers must order from a distributor... and when a distributor gets enough orders... then they will tool up and make a run.
Doesn't sound to me like they really want to sell me a gun. Through their official channels.
I'm frustrated at Kahr... and not very impressed.
I've done a lot of digging online, looking at various dealers- and no luck.
Any suggestions???

If you find a 2 for 1 deal count me in. I'd like to get one too.

Well heck, I just checked Bud's and they is out of stock now too.
There just don't seem to be many out there, I only seen one in person at a gun show, guess I shouldn't have put it back down on the table.
If stocking dealers can't get them because there are none in the distribution chain, with no plans to produce more for inventory, it is disingenuous of Kahr to say the T9 is still in production.
Thats funny Col. I just checked last nite on the TP9 at Buds. Amazing!

Not every model is made all the time. They schedule "runs" of a certain quantity, in order to fulfill standing orders, and projected orders. With recent high demand, I'm not surprised if Kahr got caught with its pants down on some models.

I think there are TP 9's around, just not many T's.

Yes, keep checking Gunbroker.
I still go to the bathroom, but only when my body's distribution system generates enough demand. :)

Yep- TP9's are out there, not T9's. Buds was one of those I checked. Have been watching Gunbroker. Found a dealer who may possibly have 2 in stock, going to call tomorrow. At least their response stated "Per the MFG number below, it shows 2 available"
Wow... how's that for a crypic response??? I know it shows 2 available- that's why I wrote them- to see if it was really true!
Sad to say, seems like there are a lot of rather questionable "dealers" online, I am finding......

Awaiting tomorrow's arrival of the Ruger American .45 (cough cough), I've been comparing things. Hence the knowledge that Buds just had one.
The T9, or even TP9, or the TP45 are smaller in all dimensions. I could expect just grip size but... I just wonder all to hell and back, why Kahr can make it work with size, and the BigBoyz gotta put out lummox's of pistols.
What would give me major wood, beyond its already major proportions, is a P45DS double stack. Keep the slide of the P45, keep the same length butt as a P45. Make it a double stack and add three rounds, 9+1... and keep the classic trigger. Sigh.
We'll see how the PPQ 45 holds up. Hickock 45 loves the 9 and goes ga-ga over the 45 from Walther.

$725 "buy now" price
wood looks properly aligned in pictures
(5 hours left at the time of posting)
Update: The gun was endlessly re-listed, for 1 day. I don't know what the heck the seller was trying to accomplish by doing the re-listings. Maybe he was reducing the reserve gradually. Or maybe he was hoping to spam some kind of e-mail system that posted newly listed items. Anyhow, the final price was $695 and only 1 bid. It took at least 15 days.

In the intervening 15 days, I located another one, which was in my town. I went to the gun shop that was selling it, and the clerk told me that they sell it out of "warehouse", so I cannot see and examine the gun. They used a stock picture. It's up to anyone's guess if it actually existed.
Update 2016-06-16: Another one popped up:
