Trying to narrow down my choices which has proven to be difficult. There seems to be like similarities between the two brands but which works for you and why? I am also looking in to the TT Gun Leather holsters which seem to be top of the line but the wait time is long and they are quite pricey. Does anyone sport the Alien Gear or Crossbreed? Are there any other brands that I need to look into before I decide on these brands? I will be carrying a CW 9 if that helps with any recommendations.

Of all the hybrid holster brands, I like this one (http://www.comp-tac.com/mtac-holster-10225) best because:
1. Unlike metal clips, these clips are indestructible. Nor will they chew-up your belt like steel clips can. Snag a spring-steel metal clip and you may be surprised how easily it snaps. You won't break these clips. And, the clips won't damage your belt.
2. Unlike less expensive brands, the MTAC is finished on the back-side with smooth leather, not raw leather like most others. That attention to detail is not common in other brands. Very comfortable to wear, even against bare skin. There are no screws, rivets, or T-nuts to chafe your hide. These are the things you don't think about until you carry your pistol for 12 hours on a hot, humid day.
3. You can replace the Kydex portion of the holster to fit another gun. Buy a new gun, no problem. Just change the Kydex shell and use the same holster. One holster can last you a very long time. Once a leather holster gets molded to your body, you'll appreciate being able to keep it even if/when you buy another gun. Some guys carry a different gun with the seasons. That's another good reason to be able to use the same holster.

The Comp-Tac MTAC holster is not the cheapest. But, in my opinion, it is the best of this type of holster. You get what you pay for. In the long run, buying good quality is often cheaper. Mine is approaching 10 years old. I wear it every day.

Good luck with your choice.

I have tried IWB but it never grew on me. I had a Crossbreed for my CM9. It was an excellent quality holster and the leather was very nice. Soft on the back. If you can carry IWB then I'd say Crossbreed it a pretty good choice. All my friends that have them, love them. Like I said, I don't have any complaints about the holster, just the style of carry. I have never had an Alien Gear.

I own a couple Alien gear cloak tuck 2.0's and a new 3.0 IWB holsters. They're quite comfortable, life time warranty, and free shell trades for life in case you want to use a differnt gun you can mail in your kydex shell & they'll send you a free replacement shell for your new gun for as long as you own the holster...They do offer different belt clip options and although the standard plastic clips are strong ( I never had one bend or break) and work well, I suggest upgrading to the leather belt loops for a few bucks more... If you can tolerate their ridiculously long wait times before shipping, (2-3 weeks) you may want to give them a shot...

Don't love IWB, and don't do it often, but when I do, it's always Aliengear. Reasons: swappable shells or can purchase new if adding instead of switching; more comfort (in Neoprene backing of 2.0 or 3.0); adjustable retention; different options for belt loops; and cheaper price. That said, I've had a couple Crossbreeds, and the quality is great, but they just don't do it for me. One other major issue I had was the sweat shield on the Crossbreed tended to bend outward making reholstering more difficult, and dangerous. I haven't had the same issue with my Aliengear.

I reserve my hybrid holster for a larger/heavier pistol than CW9. They take up too much room in the waist, and take longer to put on. Also, the rear metal clip hits and rubs the back of my leather recliner.
I use an all Kydex PJ holster for my CW9 and a single metal clip/leather holster for my CW45.
