I THINK I've read on here (or somewhere) that PM9/CM9 doesn't like 124gr.
Is that true? Partially true? If so why?

Mine eats everything. In fact I carry Federal HST 124gr as a defense round.

But has anyone heard that they generally don't prefer 124gr?

Mine eats everything. PM9. I have run black talons, NATO, WWB, S&B (every variety) and no issues of ANY kind.

I've shot everything from 90gr and 124gr lead reloads to 115gr, 124gr and 147gr Hollow points. Eats everything I load in it with no issues at all.

I have a CM9. I use 115 Gr ball ammo on the range (my loads). However I use only for self defense 124gr Fed HST or Speer Gold Dot.... I have shot enough of both to know they feed well.

I've actually got better groupings (tighter) using heavier 124 & 147 gr. JHP's out of my CM9 than I did with 115 gr. bullets

I echo all of the above. I ONLY shoot 124gr with my PM9. I use Speer Lawman TMJ 124gr for range work, and load Federal HST 124gr for SD carry. I've shot over a thousand of the Speer 124gr, and over 100 or so HST 124gr all with no issues and very good accuracy. I have also shot some 115gr and 147gr though it, yet for impact and accuracy 124gr is the way to go for me, and I couldn't ask the PM9 to run it better.

During CM9 "breaking in period", had 0 problems with 124 gr. Had 4 FTF with 115 gr. during 1st 40 rounds fired. Since then ( I do not keep count of boxes fired) feeds everything: 124gr. 115gr. 147gr. I carry 124 gr Federal HST.
My CW9 prefers 115 gr. Hornady for carry, as does my Taurus 2nd Gen. PT111.

I only shoot 124 grain bullets.

My CM9 likes all flavors fine too. I prefer standard pressure 147 grain Federal HST for carry purposes

I'm "pretty sure" shooting 124 gr is what broke the follower in my CM9. Made the feed ramp tang slap the follower. I shaved back the feed ramp tang a little and no issues since.

My CM9 loves 124gr. Hornady Personal Defense. It digests the 115 and 147 rounds just as well. I'm tempted to name my CM9 Mikey. It eats anything. Hey Mikey!

That's your follower not liking 124gr, not your CM9:) (good job on the fix:cool:)
To the OP: it's been my experience (owned a CM9 and reading here), that it is NOT TRUE that "GENERALLY" the CM9 doesn't like 124gr.

Greg

Sirvive, I have not heard of anyone saying they had trouble feeding 124g load in the CM9. I DID hear a couple people (only a couple) say that they had some trouble with 115g loads, as mentioned by kwh in the previous post.

I don't know about CM9, but I own two PM9s and only shoot 115gr and 124gr rounds. They work great. So far I've shot over 4.7K rounds through one and over 4.2K rounds trough the other, and both of my PM9s maintain over 99.8% reliability rate with malfunctions that mostly occurred during the break-in period.

One the first range trip with my brand new CM9. I ran about 250 handloads. Various powders and measurements. But shot 124 grain flatpoints. Not a single issue. You're good to go with 124s in the cm9 if that's your concern.

My CM9 has fired all weights of ammo without any problems. About 700 rounds.

I use 115 ball ammo (my reloads) at the range... and use Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot both 124 Gn... works well. I took a chronograph reading on these Self defense rounds and they are smoking. Forgot the exact numbers, but over 1200 fps.

In my limited experience, 115gr ammo shoots to about a 6 o'clock hold at 25 yards. 124gr. ammo nearly always shoots a little high in my CM9.
I've found that SD ammo usually shoots better than ball practice ammo. I use a plated 115gr in my reloads because they are more accurate than the cheaper RN's. See my thread in the reloading forum for more.

All I use are 124gr bullets . MY cm9 is 10 years old and zero follower issues just like the other 3 kahrs .

Sirvive:

Although I'm not 100% sure just what hardluk1 actually meant to say above; I think that the jist of what he was trying to say is that his cm9 works fine with 124g projectiles.
And even though the Kahr CM9 was introduced at the 2011 Shot Show, hardluk1 believes that he has owned his longer.

My CM9 works just fine with 124g along with 115g and 147g projectiles. In fact I haven't found anything that it won't run-yet.

Maybe he counts in "dog years" and he bought his cm9 in August of 2014.

Ok, have fun children . You'll get old and forgetful one day . My typing sucks at times and so does my memory . Had to dig out the pistol box's to look for the receipt's to date them . Yea , your right the cm9 is a 2011 and hardly see carry time any more . My cw9 was my first kahr a cw9 was a 2006 purchase and after a couple years CC duty was given to a daughter for carry . We only shoot 124gr bullets in all the family the 9mm's and practice bullets for the last few years has been the Hi-Tek coated swc design across the calibers . I also have a 2008 tp40 that replaced my cw9 as my EDC till a year ago and have a ct45 . I probably forget this crap again in a week !

After Reading the thread, I conclude it is NOT generally true. 😃😃😃
