Greetings everyone,

I've been contemplating picking up a CW9 to supplement my Glock 19 and CZ P-01 for summer and travel carry. I'm hoping the thinner profile will be more comfortable for my wife to shoot. One thing I have noticed from dryfiring a couple at my local shop is that the small ledge on the front of the trigger pinches my trigger finger. Does anyone else have this issue? Is this ledge/lip also present on the P9? Can it be filed down without negatively affecting the pistol?

Welcome!

Im not sure I know exactly what you're referring to, the "small ledge" near the trigger pin? or the very tip of the trigger at the bottom? In any case my personal CW9 is smooth as silk, no pinching no nothing. The P9 would have the same trigger, among other Kahr's.

It will be far more comfortable to carry in any occasion, while not feeling under-gunned.

As for the wife, if she is uncomfortable with a G19, she won't like the Kahr at all, its thinner, far lighter, and has less to hold on-to, yet fires the same round. They are a handful by comparison, quite snappy. My lady has no problem handling full power .357's out of my Dan Wesson, yet says the CW9 is too much, and Kahr's don't like shooters with limp wrists. She also struggles with the stiff recoil spring, I always have to lock the slide back for her to insert a mag. She would certainly have trouble with it in a panic situation.

Could be different story with you and yours.

Welcome to the forums:)
I've not had any issues with trigger pinch on any of my Kahr pistols.
To my knowledge, the trigger on the CW9 is the same as that used on the P9.
I'm of the opinion that some judicious rounding of edges/corners of the trigger will not affect the pistol's operation; I would though, advise some live fire testing beforehand.

Greg

Thank you both for the responses. The ledge I was referring too is at the top front of the trigger where it meets the frame, I use a very high hand hold when shooting which may be part of the problem. My wife main issue with the G19 if the thickness of the grips, and I've already had them reduced quite a bit. I know I'll probably shoot it more than her, and will definitely carry it more (an argument I have yet to win). I'd love to test fire both the CW and CT to decide which will work better form me but so far the three rental ranges I've gone to only have the subcompacts, which IMHO suck to shoot.

Thanks again!

If I have the right spot you're talking about: that edge is a little sharp and bit my finger a couple times until I adjusted my supposedly "incorrect" finger placement. i.e. crease between first and second joint. The second joint of the finger is a little fatter and some flesh can squeeze in there. I don't know if removing the trigger and softening that edge would help or not since I've never tried it. I have seen other posts about this issue, but no one suggested actually getting the file out.

As Surlyman said; The thinner profile makes it more comfortable to HOLD but the thicker G19 will be more comfortable to shoot.

If your wife is going to shoot it, why are you worried about your finger??????????? I wouldn't necessarily agree about the Glock comments either. They are way to fat for my hands, and they aren't small...............
