Tried out my new CW40 a couple of days ago and am very pleased with it. It's not the big kicker I thought it would be. I found it to be accurate with no mishaps with 70 rounds fired. I do however have a beef.
With the mag that came with it as well as two seven round mags that I bought from Kahr, when I load the mags the follower hangs on the mag body on the 2nd round. I have to put side pressure on the follower to make it take the second round. The culprit is the steel piece that engages the slide stop.
My question is:
Can I just put a slight bevel on the bottom of the steel piece to make it jump past the magazine edge or should I just send the mags back to Kahr. I ordered 2 more of theses mags last night and when they get in I suspect they will be the same.

Thanks

As long as you don't affect the plastic bedding of the metal bar, that might help. You could take some fine sandpaper to the bothersome area of the magazine as well, and remove the sharpness of the edge so that the follower won't catch as much. This combination ought to make it easier to load the magazine. There are usually problems on the other side where the magazine catch protrudes.

Ok Thanks!!
Just wanted to check with someone that "knows" theses guns before I did anything.
I got a sneaking suspicion this problem "might" go away all by itself with more use.

That could be, but some of us get impatient and try to hurry things along.

Oh, and a whetstone might be better than a rough file for the bottom that metal thingy... less wiggling or movement caused.

I just buffed both surfaces of one of them with a Dremel tool with the "white compound" and that seemed to work. I can still feel the follower make the jump when loading the 2nd round but it dose in fact load now without me pushing sideways on the follower. I think I'll stop here and move on to the other two before I "over fix" it....:D

well, buffing both parts. Nice job, and indeed stop while u are ahead. More than likely even with some good range use that magazine will sort itself out and be OK... MOre than likely that little metal peace had a sharp burr on it andu relieved it.

Nice work..

Be careful with the Dremel around the plastic. 20 to 30,000 RPM can vaporize plastic in a flash! Been there, done that.

Yeah, what I did was take a cutting from the inside of a 1/4" leather punch and put a small hole in it and put in on the Dremel. That was easy to control with the use of the flex cable/shaft that came with the Dremel.

Slowpoke, isn't it great we have such helpful members here? I was just recently wondering about 2 things, both of which were addressed right here. 1) The recoil of the CW40 2) Those little bumps on the mag follower I noticed last night on my new Kahr 7 rnd. 9mm mags which just arrived via USPS.
Anyway, thanks for the great post and inadvertantly answering 2 questions I would have had. :)

Yeah, it's a very friendly and helpful environment.

The CW40 is not that bad at all.
I settled on 155 gainers and am very happy with this gun.

I just got 2 more of these 7 round mags in from Kahr today and they are perfect.

I was getting ready to allude to the fact that some senior's around here might get a little happy with the dremel...but ok if you want to out yourself...:p
