Recently purchased a new PM9. Took it apart, and lubed as suggested on the chart. When racking the slide without the mag installed, it feels smooth. When I install a mag, it seems to drag when racking, and the release it very difficult to activate. This is my first Kahr, but not my first pistol, and I've never felt this on other semi-autos.
Would you think this is just the newness of the piece, or did I miss something?
I noticed a small round tab on the outside top of the mags. Should I do some polishing on the tab.
Thanks in advance for your advise.

The slide release being more difficult to activate is due the the pressure applied by the mag spring and is perfectly normal. If the gun is functioning properly I wouldn't be concerned about the drag that you are feeling when racking the slide.

I am like you I just purchased my first Kahr a few weeks ago (CW9).
I don't think the polish would do anything to help. The manual says the hard to actuate on an empty mag is by design. I read this as "by design we needed to use a spring in the mag that is strong enough to put enough tension on the rounds." This makes the empty mag press pretty hard on the slide lever "by design".
That metal tab is probably there to stop the plastic follower from wearing.

That metal button/insert in the mag follower is to trip/push the release up to hold the slide back when the mag is EMPTY.
I have found the metal button to be "proud" on some mags, and drags on the inside of the mag.
I simply file that metal button, using the plastic below it as a guide, until it is the same profile as that plastic.
Or buy some aluminum followers from Alfonse...problem solved
