Hey all.....I just ordered a PM9 with night sights to complement my P45 with night sights when I want to carry something smaller due to my attire. I remember a good sticky on what to do right out of the box on the P45 that I followed and have not had any issues with the P45. I'd like to start off on the right foot with the PM9 - Is there a different "prep from out of the box" sticky for the PM9? Anything I should be aware of with it? Thanks in advance....I really think the Kahr pistols are well-engineered, accurate, and quality carry guns.

Hi Webbie, I just picked up black DLC PM9 and am loving it, zero issues so far....Just do the same stuff in the sticky, clean and lube it real good and maybe leave the slide locked back overnight then rack it several hundred times while watching TV....I did buy one of Alfonse Lakeline LLC.com aluminum followers for the magazine and it made loading much easier and it functions 100% .....Well worth the 20 bucks spent for better function and no worries about busted plastic followers....Now get out there and shoot that thing....

Will do....haven't actually RECEIVED it yet, but I did order it on my instructor discount plan. Tell me more about these followers.....they sound like a good idea.....

Thanks for the response!

You are gonna love it!

I've always avoided the micro guns....can't stand having the pinky dangle. But every year I buy my one gun on the Kahr instructor discount.....it's SUBSTANTIALLY discounted...feel like I'm missing out if I don't. Last 3 years were the MLR22AT rifle, the P45, and the DE1911G - all have been awesome firearms. So I'm taking a long motorcycle trip this Spring and packing light will be the theme....going 2,000 miles on a 400cc dual sport bike. The PM9 will be a pocket or tank bag carry gun. It should be ideal for that. I'm pretty psyched.....like I said, I get my one per year, and this is it this year.

Like CJB said, you're gonna love the CM9 which is the perfect size and weight for pocket carry....The deal with the Lakeline LLC.com magazine followers is that some, not all CM9 PM9 and CM PM .40 pistols have a problem with the feed ramp hitting the follower with enough force on the last shot that it breaks the plastic follower causing FTF issues....Alfonse is a member here and started Lakeline LLC making aluminum followers for Kahr pistols that wont break and are an improvement over the factory product....They work and are worth 20 bucks not to have to worry about broken followers ever again.....Kahr will fix the problem if you send in your pistol so they can shorten the feed ramp but your gun will be gone several weeks and they will replace any broken followers in the mean time but who needs the hassle when the Lakeline followers prevent the issue and feed better....Good luck on your bike trip, 2000 miles on a 400cc will be a challenge but sounds like a lot of fun...

You bet! Installing the new follower is easy and even if you don't buy one it's a good idea to take apart the magazines and run a silicone cloth through the inside and take some 800 grit black sand paper and smooth up the feed lips just a bit...There have been some cases of the spring being in backwards from the factory so check the picture in the manual and be sure your spring is installed in the correct direction....

It's pretty easy to take apart, you take a small punch and press in on the little button on the baseplate and slide the bottom plate off towards the rounded side on the front....Be careful and catch the spring and little metal end piece on the bottom...When you go to put it back together you can push the spring in as far as you can then stick the small punch or screw driver through one of the ammo inspection holes near the bottom which will hold back some of the spring tension so you can slide the baseplate back on... It's really not hard to do and after the first time it's a breeze....

Yeah....now that you say that I vaguely remember pulling my P45 magazines apart and checking the spring direction on them.....I'll definitely do that once I get the PM9.

Thanks again....good, helpful forum here,

I'm "only" 50. Hahaha. We'll see. The custom seat is a LOT more supportive than the stock seat, and the windshield stops the wind from beating you up. I also put a smaller sprocket on the back to make the gearing a little taller. Our longest day will be under 400 miles....hopefully it won't be too horrible. The more people doubt that I'll do it, the more I WANT to do it. Hahah..

What size bike is that? 600?

That would be overkill. 400cc's of raw, mileage eating horsepower. Hahahaha. It'll cruise at 65-70 all day though.

I rode my Virago from Santa Barbara to San Diego once. Seriously, my butt hurt so much going there that I didn't want to ride it back. I will never, ever, ever do that again. Hopefully you will do better. Especially with those jet turbo boost engines on the sides of your cooler. Only problem I see, is your parachute is facing forward.

Sounds like a lot. But plenty of guys have done more than that. And they will all be road miles, so not getting beat up off road. It'll be a challenge, but not too horrible I don't think.

The seat makes a huge difference. I just got this one back from Fisher saddlebag/seat company, who has a great reputation for building custom DRZ seats. It's 11" wide instead of the stock 6.5" wide seat. And the foam is all reworked, too. Rides like a different bike with this seat. The dry duffel will serve as a backrest. I'll stop every 100 miles for gas.....taking secondary roads so it'll be long days, but shouldn't be too bad. We'll see. Sorry for this turning into a motorcycle thread! I just came to talk about my PM9. Hehe....

Ain't nothing better than motorcycles AND guns! Been riding and shooting for nearly half a century. No offense taken here. You'll find this forum to be informal and forgiving.

Oh and one other little tidbit. The reason I rode down to San Diego was to attend a job fair. At these job fairs we all had little "handouts" logoed with our business for people to take home. Well before the show starts, we usually go around to other booths and introduce ourselves and trade "goodies".

One of these "goodies" I got was a really nice paperweight, about 4 inches round and 2 inches high. Plexiglass or some type of acrylic covered display.....really nice!

After the show I checked out of the hotel, loaded up the bike and headed back north, putting the nice little acrylic dome in my coat pocket. Well when I got home, the dome was gone. I had visions of it flying out of my pocket at 70 mph and all the cars behind me weaving and swerving to avoid getting hit by this piece of artillery bouncing down the highway.

Yes, this is PM9 related....my message is, don't let this happen with your PM9 as your riding down a busy highway!
