I kind of thought he would. Really, my slide stop is all fixed, but the grip, like Hickok 45 also said... just feels weird. To square in the front, too humped in the back, and too wide and square at the top. Its weird. But for him, there were no malfunctions.

I find it almost feels better with NO grip panel. Yah sharp edges and all, but the size and overall ergos just feel better. I can see aftermarket grip panels being done for this pistol, where you can get a few different widths and overall size, as well as a varying hump at the back. To Ruger's detriment, they put a nice "taller than everything else" diamond shape right at the apex of the strap hump, so it would dig into your palm. It can be surgically removed.....

Don't know why Ruger felt the need to Glock up the SR45 though. Mine functions & shoots just fine. As you say, the ergonomics on their striker fired pistols can be really comfortable. Ruger has been doing some odd things over the past 50 years or so.

Hickok is an avowed Glock kool aid slurper. Take his panning with a grain of salt.

I have no use for Glock products, and I agree with the "Meh" reviews. Ruger will undoubtedly make another boatload of cash from the American Pistol line, but I'm entirely underwhelmed.

I handled a couple of Ruger Americans at a LGS a few weeks ago, and underwhelming was my immediate thought as well. I think I now know why so many gun manufacturers are just cloning existing gun designs these days, because it seems there aren't many talented gun designers out there able to produce new designs that are worth a damn.

How Ruger managed to make a polymer 45 pistol thats heavier than a metal frame Commander.... I think my American is headed for the donation bin.
