View Full Version : Easier way to reassemble a Kahr magazine

As a new Kahr owner (T9), I had a difficult time reassembling a Kahr magazine... namely, getting the spring back down in the mag/the plate in place/the cover slipped back on! I launched parts a few times, finally losing the cover in the netherlands of my basement. My hands are not as strong as they used to be, and I have arthritis in them- thumb in particular, so whereas most of you may not have any difficulty accomplishing this simple task, it kicked my proverbial you-know-what!
So.... I made a simple jig to hold the magazine in place, freeing my hands to do what they needed to do. With this block to hold the mag- I had no difficulty whatsoever reassembling the magazine. Dimensions are non-critical, just made it to fit the mag with enough clearance to fit. Spacing turned out to be perfect with some scrap 1/2" ply.
NOTE: Picture in correct orientation reposted below. Sorry, just learning how to post pic's here!!

Well done. I have what I call "basketball" thumbs. Send me a hard chest pass and my thumbs will dislocate and the ball will knock me in the noggin.

So I know what you mean. Thanks for sharing.

Cool. Now if someone could please invent a simple way to reassemble one with the magguts conversion. Worst part of cleaning.

A Kahr newbie question- what's the Magguts conversion???
Never mind.... found 'em.
Looks like a mess- with 2 springs in the magazine??? Sheesh......

Orientation... the free end of the mag spring should be to the front of the magazine and follower, so it pushes up on the front of the follower. In the photos, the spring is backwards.

Yup, I agree.

Uhhh... now I'm a bit confused... I've got the spring oriented so the magazine follower sits in its normal orientation/lineup... as it looks like it should be. Is this backwards??? Is there a pic anywhere that shows the CORRECT orientation???
Or are you talking about the springs in the Magguts conversions???

This is from Gregs fine CW45 thread.

If you lay the mag body down and the spring next to it, the top just needs to be parallel to the body so it's pushing on the front. Easy.

Thanks... that's what I thought. That's how I've got 'em...
