I tried a Steel Challenge match with my CW9 and it was fun.
These are "club practice" matches where everyone is welcome, and are allowed to start from the low ready position, without a holster.
From what I understand, all Steel Challenge stages are 5 targets, with all stages following a map as far as layout and target position/distance/type.
We shot 4 different stages, 5 times each, a 100 rounds if you don't miss:D
With running each stage 5 times, you see immediate improvement the 2nd/3rd run and then see fatigue or over-thinking take over on the 4th and 5th:o
They did not have enough ROs for every stage so there was some extended stand around time.
This was shortened some by loading mags for whoever was shooting and everyone picking up brass.
Unlike some other gun games, there's no need for more than 3 mags, running shoes, etc.
I have vowed NOT to compete anymore but it's hard not to get hooked on a shooting game once you try it.
Yes, there are some who use tricked out space guns, gunbelts with enough weighted mags to shoot the whole match without reloading, and puff loads with no recoil.
They do allow 22lr handguns and I believe a 22 would go a long way to even the playing field with those shooting Ray Gun rigs, without all the expense.
Someone commented that the CW9 trigger was slowing me down, to which I responded; you try starting with 7 rds and see how fast you shoot.
I'll try a 22LR next week and see if we can start a BUG class in the future.
After watching someone painfully compete with a 5 shot snubby and 2 speed loaders, I know I made the right choice trading my snubby for a Kahr.
Try a Steel Challenge match...it'll be fun, I promise:)
Just sayin'
