Bought a new K9 a few months back for $500. It was manufactured in 2013, so I guess it was on the shelf for a while hence the good deal! I own a P380 with which I am very accurate and very fun to shoot. Imagine my surprise when I'm shooting 4-6 inches low with the new K9. It has the standard bar dot sights, but I'm having to hold the dot level with the top of the rear sight to (and dot ON the target) hit my bull's eye. The trigger is longer than the P380's so that is a possible issue with my trigger pull. No I haven't shot it from a bench yet. I'm figuring its me, but is there something that could be wrong with the gun itself? Thanks...

I think you just need to bond with it a bit more. If the trigger pull seems longer, you probably just need to get used to that.

Four to six inches low at one hundred yards is nornal!

You did not mention bullet weight, but my memory is half assed close, a 115grn bullet is dead on a 25 yards, minus 1.0 inches at 50 yards, and minus 8.0 at 100, this is from a 4" barrel, so will be a little off for a 3.5" K9.

A hundred yards...haha... Try 7 yards.... All have been 115 grain fmj.

There is a chance the sights got bobbled at the factory, have a person who knows how to shoot, try your pistol and see what they say. Don't give them any warning about the shooting low.

Try a 124 grain round..
My MK was low at 7, bumped up to 135 Hornady and I was GTG. Works the same way on fixed sight revolvers. Heavier grain bullets will strike higher than a lighter one.

Greetings... I am the OP and have fired my K9 from a rest and have had others shoot it. It still shoots low. This is the sight picture I need to hold in order to hit the target. The front dot is on the target. Although I can certainly "live" with this (likely a range only gun), I'm checking into other sights. I'm looking for the standard sight height measurements for the K9. If I could get a Hi-Vis red shorter than the dot I have now, it might be a good option. DawsonPrecision also seems to have a decent collections of options. I'd hate to buy night sights and still have a problem. I could, I suppose contact Jay at Kahr and get his advice too. Thanks in advance for your help. Oh... manufactured 11/2013 and new style slide.

I think that that type of sight is mean't to be aimed with the dot on the target. My friend has the same issue with his CW9.

No, with the bar dot sight you put the white dot of the front sight just on top of the bar of the rear sight & the target just above the front sight white dot... OR, you can just pop on the hundred or so bucks it'll cost & get a set of Trijicon 3 dot night sights for it from kahrs websight.

Till somebody mentions the distance, no advice can be given.

sorry...5 to 7 yards...and I'm just looking for the height of the front sight. I'll bring home some calipers from work today and measure it myself. Thanks!

That's just a bit higher than I have to hold my MK. I still have to hold pretty much how your holding at 7-10 yds.

It seems a lot of us have to hold it like that. I'd like to get a shorter front sight so I could hold it the way its "supposed" to be. My p380 is okay.

Yah, ya gotta do the math....

I'll assume a sight radius of 5 inches, against a target distance of 18 feet (six yards).

Eighteen feet is 216 inches, against 5 inches sight radius, or about 43 to 1 ratio.

Lets say five inches off (4-6 inches) so 1/43rd of 5 inches is.... about .116 inches or someplace between 1/10th and 1/8th of an inch "off" positioning of the sights, or machining of the barrel and/or slide, or all of the above. Don't worry - there's nothing off by that amount in your pistol! Variability is much, much less than that, just to have it function. So, you're fine.

We might take a brass punch, and small hammer and "adjust" your trigger finger.... if need be. (owwww!!!!) ;)

Just to wrap things up. After getting to know my K9 better, the sights are working good. It was all me as suspected. I didn't even have to take a brass punch to my trigger finger. haha. ... Actually, now I have two K9's ... how did that happen!

ha...well I am thinking about a trade for a CM/PM9 if you have a 'spare'.

shooting low can also be improper site picture. Get at 5-7 yards and try to see what gives. Have a friend load your magazine with a few snap caps so u dont know if there are any in there or not. This will surely show any shooting ills you are having also. POre=-anticipation of the b ang thing will product lows every time. Your not really recognizig the anticipation thnbg as the bang thing happens at the same time your pulling downb on the gun so u don't kow. Mystery snap caps will show this.,

I am so glad kahr has steel triggers for I am so bad about this bad habit, I swear I would break a plastic trigger with my anticiation. iTS HARD AND A BAD HABIT to break. for me anyways. I do feel one can master or sorta master a bad habit if u do the same thing time in and tie out, u just adjust sites, site picture accordngly and your groups will tighten up alot, but again learn the right way, if u can.

I never make excuses form y shooting, I am indeed a piss poor shot, I know the proper things one should do but I just dont seem to do it right. Just sayin
