Anyone have issues using a tall mag base in their cw9?

I ordered a new 8rnd mag with the tall base a few months ago. It has always had a very tight engagement. I tried sanding down the top a bit but that didn't do anything which leads me to think it's a spring issue.

So I then acquired a tall base plate and put it onto a working 8 rnder and ran into the same problem.

The mag will seat on a closed slide with a strong bump.

Works fine one an open slide.

I just can't see what would cause this, the 8rnd flat base would insert on a closed slide no problem.

Sounds like there's not enough clearance between the base plate and the frame. Probably need to sand some more.

You might look at the mag catch and make sure it doesn't have a burr or something that's interfering with engagement.

The slot in the mag could be raised a tad but that might have a negative impact on feeding, probably not if it's only a tad.
