As per my previous post, I recently received my new CM9, and finally had a chance today to get it out. First let me say that I have never shot a Kahr before today, I have squeezed off a few rounds with a Ruger LC9 before and didnt like the way that pistol wrist snaps. It even twist a bit in a lateral direction, very uncomfortable. I had some worries that the CM9 would display this behavior,... but I very happy to say it doesnt. Shooting the CM9, (even with some warm reloads) is very comfortable. It has a nice straight recoil with the right amount of barrel rise, no lateral or uncomfortable 'snaps' (for lack of better description)
All ammo used were my own reloads;

First 50 rnds - 115gr Barry's Plated HP's with 6.0grns of 4756 - Not one malfunction!,using 3 different mags (6rnd, 8rnd, & 10rnd)

Next 50 rounds - 147gr Hornady XTP with 6.5 grns of HS-7 - I had one FTF that just needed a slight assist,..using the same 3 mags.

Next 25 rnds - Win. 147gr FMJ with 5.0grns of 296 - Zero malfunctions.

But the biggest surprise of the day was accuracy,.... holy crap!!,.... I can hit targets better with this little gun than I could with any of S&W 59's,... even back to 25yrds I was hitting a 10" target fairly consistently.

The only slight disappointment came at the end of the day when I went to clean it,... its probably one of the most difficult guns Ive owned to take down,... getting the bolt lock back lever out is going to take some getting used to.

But in conclusion, after 125 rnds,.. i am very impressed,... I found a new buddy/EDC.

The pin will get easier with time and practice. Great report, keep us posted past the break in.

Nice report and glad you like it. I also love my CM9. The gun will loosen up more as you use it.

Hi Shaw,

Good to hear about your CM9! Congratulations on a fine carry piece. Your initial experience is similar to many members here. When I first received my new PM9 I noticed a grittiness to the action and slide operation. I cleaned/lubed and shot it, and had one FTF at about the 70 round mark using 124gr Aguila to break it in. It smoothed out remarkably by about the 400 round mark, with no concerns whatsoever. I now have over 1,500 rounds through it and it runs like butter, accurate as heck for a 3" barreled microgun.

p.s., my holster recommendation is get a Cooks Holsters IWB kydex. Set it at the maximum cant angle, and it will disappear at the 4:00 position.

Enjoy!!

Tim

I also broke in my first Kahr this weekend, and it too was a CM9. Though I had two FTFs in the first 51 rounds using 6 and 7 round mags.

They do like to be cleaned. I have had an occasional FTF because the feed ramp gets gooky from shooting 100 rounds. I think more so from Federal than WWB. The pin is still tight on mine so I use a plastic lever (non-marking) of some kind (any thin plastic utensil will do). It is getting easier.

Range report II,... well I brought the crony but never took it out of the truck,... the range was a bit hectic and the wind was blowing cold so I limited my time to just breaking her in and trying different mags.

Today I shot 50 lead truncated FN with 5.0 grains of 4756, had one FTF at about the 12th rnd, that again just needed a slight assist. Also shot 50rnds of 115 XTP with 6.5 grns HS-7 with zero malfunctions.

Even MORE impressed today with the accuracy of this little gun! ,....holy cow! ,.... Im putting 6 out of 6 in an 8" circle at 30 yrds,...Im begining to wonder if I got a freak! ;)

After 225 rnds, slide and action starting to smooth out a bit.

OvalNut,.... Im taking your advise on holster brand/position,.... shopping this week. TY

oh,... forgot to mention I also shot (2) 10 rnd mags of WWB 147gr FMJ,....the first factory ammo this CM has seen,...(except of course for the factory test),... with no failures.

So my Rnd count is actually 245 not 225

I used a piece of plastic that I shaped to fit under the slide lock lever and pry it out. Now that I've cleaned my cm9 and cw9 several times I can just pull it out with my fingers without using any kind of pry. Don't use anything metal, like a screwdriver, that will scratch the finish. Congrats on the new Kahr.
