Just picked this up yesterday with 7 magazines, leather strap, and the box and manual, owner claimed only 10 shots fired from it during the year he owned it. Appears to be nearly new condition. I hope to take it out soon and try her out. I think I'll name her Charlene.

My son has had one for several years, it's an awesome rifle and I've wanted one for much longer than he's had his.
My desire of course came about around election time and the prices went from about 750 bucks all day long to over 1500 nearly over night.
They were selling like hot cakes.
You'll love it, it's a great rifle and someday I'm still gonna have one myself.
Charlene is a great choice of a name too.
I love the wood stock and that's what my son has and I will too. Many suggest getting the Tupperware one and then finding a wood take off since most seem to want the Tupperware. Then you have both.
They are easy to swap out quickly if you want to get rough you don't mess up your nice wood stock.

Prices still seem to be climbing on these and although I didn't pay "new" price it was still high considering. I figured they are only going to keep climbing and with the political climate the way it is, who knows if they will end up being banned. One thing this gun will outlive me and I'll pass it on to my son someday. I liked the scout version, seemed the best overall compromise between the standard and socom. Ever since I was in my NRA shooting class at McClellan AFB years ago as a young boy, I thought about shooting at Camp Perry with a national match Garand, for now, this should suffice.

The owner sent me some pictures of it before I saw it, it looked ok but the pictures were poor cellphone out of focus stuff. It looked good enough to take a chance and go check it out and when he opened the box, I was happy.

Very nice. Of course you can attached the sling anyway you like, but the following is suggested

I blame you! [and Ahlman's] I am now proud owner of a Scout M1A. Mine is synthetic stock model. I am looking for a flash hider to replace compensator....and then....it never ends. Hmmm thinking Burris 2-7 Scout Scope?

I see another paint job a comin too. Surprised you brought it home...........................
Dang it, guess I'll see if my son will let me hold his for a few minutes.
I do have Thelma and Louise at work to play with when I get frustrated with Violets and computers.
A nice couple of surplus M14's. Select fire. Sure like to bring one of those home to call my own. But that will never happen either.
Any which way I try to attach the sling the lower hook keeps coming off. Bending them doesn't seem right. Use zip ties or rawhide for more permanent attachment ? Suggestions would be helpful.

The first yearI was trained on the M1 and fondly remember the dreaded "M1 thumb", Shortly after that we went to the newfangled M14.
Full size match M1a here. A never part with rifle. SHTF, M1AHTS!!!

Well it is getting there.....now to get some color on it. Got the scope on, ditched the compensater and added flash hider and XS sights and bipod.

Well I finally got to shoot it, held a 1/2" inch group at 100 yards using 150 grain Remington Corlokt ammo.

I added a scope to mine so I could enjoy shooting it again with my old eyes. But, the mount doesn't want to let the scope zero and I haven't found time to fuss with it. This is a great reminder to fuss with it...
