Anybody make upgraded magazine springs for the .380s? I had a few failures to return to battery today at the range. After I got home and went over everything I came to the conclusion it was the springs. It wouldnt even lock back with an empty magazine when I racked the slide. I ended up stretching the magazine spring and after that it would lock back every time with the empty magazine. Being an EDC item I dont really want to stretch my springs once a week since I keep them loaded.

Might want to try the Magguts kit. Replaces your mag springs, follower, and gives you space for an extra round.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself

Aren't you using the MagGuts you bought from me? Or, didn't it work out?

One of my magazines. The other with the issue was from Kahr. I ended up ordering a second set for my 2nd magazine.

Glad it's working for you. I wasted enough expensive defense ammo and lost confidence. I concluded that even if I sent it back to MagGuts for their offered inspection, I was not willing to burn thru more expensive ammo for testing. Once you lose confidence in something it is hard to achieve especially if you never had it to begin with.

Except for the MagGuts experience my CW380 has been very reliable. It even shoots RNFP without the problems that many report having. I have been practicing with it more than I thought I would. Freedom Munitions RNFP are quite affordable. One reason I own an MK9 is to be able to practice with cheaper 9mm ammo with essentially the same trigger as the .380.

My 380 eats Freedom Munitions cheap amo no problem. Only issues with the CW380 I had was the trigger pin walk out which I fixed myself and now the magazine springs. Still pretty confident in it and I hope it continues to be that way.

After inspecting the old Kahr springs vs the new Kahr springs it seems they have caught on. The new springs have 2 more coils compared to the old springs.

I wonder if those are the CT380 springs for 7-round mags?

LOL, way to throw doubt into a purchase! Sorry, I know I have a sick sense of humor, but if they work, great outcome!

Hmm maybe. I also ordered a 7 rounder with extension so I can confirm soon

I see two springs offered, but the line numbers seem backwards...
036P38 Magazine Spring (036P38) (http://www.kahr.com/Pistol-Parts/Kahr-036P38-Magazine-Spring-036P38.asp)
Price: $12.10 for the CT,

and two listed under the P380/CW380:

036P38 Magazine Spring (036P38) (http://www.kahr.com/Pistol-Parts/Kahr-036P38-Magazine-Spring-036P38.asp)
Price: $12.10

036TP38 Magazine Spring (036TP38) (http://www.kahr.com/Pistol-Parts/Kahr-036TP38-Magazine-Spring-036TP38.asp)
Price: $12.10

It would seem that the latter one would be the longer spring, but I don't know. I haven't bought the solitary springs, but the magazine maintenance kit with the spring and the follower for $15:

I only see one of those listed at Kahr.com and it's for the P380, and doesn't say which spring.

I just went and got my kits for the P380 and they have the 10/11-coil springs, depending on how you count the coils, but definitely the shorter ones. I bought several of everything when the kits were on sale for $9.99 over a year ago.

It's a shame that you can use the Kahr pictures for comparison. They seem to all use the same photos... one for ALL calibers and sizes.

Wynn :)

I just checked with Wolff Gun Springs and they still only have 9mm/.40S&W magazine springs. :( I like to buy in quantity for savings!

I would rather have the longer ones and have a lot of 7-rounders, too. Do you know the item number of your longer springs?

I don't. They came from Kahr in a padded envelope with no paperwork. Maybe try calling them

I haven't run across the paperwork for my order, either, but will look a bit more... so many places it could be filed... or just stuck away... with our old gun show stuff. :)

Somebody claimed that Kahr's springs are made by Wolff, but I have a hard time believing that given the fact that they poop out so fast. If the 12/13-coil springs fit in a 6-round mag then great, but I suspect they're meant for a 7-rounder. MagGuts offers two different +1 kits for the 6 and 7-round mags, and the difference is a longer spring.

I've never replaced a spring in my Kahrs yet that needed replacing. They are made by Wolff.

I was actully looking at the differnces and the 7 round to 8 has one more coil than the 6 to 7. I also did try the 6 to 7 in my 7 round mag and it works with 8 rounds loaded...just not sure how long

Havent had issues with my CW9 magazines. Seems like the smaller 380s are the only ones causing problems
