The boat's in for another season. They're catching monster walleye due west of the Catawba State Park boat ramp.

Nice. Do you ever go out and spend the night on it? Looks like you have a small cabin below deck.

I'm taking my boat out of storage at the end of the month and hope to be water ready by May 1st. I'll be running out of Spitzer's Marina in Lorain. Leave a few walleye for me b4. Nice Sport Craft. I'm running a Robalo R180 Center Console named "Bite Me!". What the heck, it's a fishin' boat. :D

There's a guy out farther west who must be running a Lyman or something. His radio handle is "Big Woody". That's a little late to be putting the Robolo in. The big fish bite early in the season. But enjoy it.

Took delivery of it on my birthday. The same day I was informed that I had Stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer. Only had it in the water once. The boat has only 2 hours on the hour meter. All of my electronics are installed, but I still need to install all of the usual accessories. Rod holders, fishing equipment, safety equipment, etc. Mini yacht.

good lookin' boat there muggsy. It should cut thru the chop just fine. Have fun rigging it. I share our boat with my BIL. He is clearly addicted to fishing. Me? I get as much enjoyment out of rigging the boat. We got a real neat set up to run the planer boards, two plotters, rod holders everywhere.... It's fun. That boat's a 1996 and has a few thousand hours on it. It works hard. It had a few issues last year and spent some time in the shop. I hope I'm not approaching that "happiest day" when we have to sell it.

Best recipe for Walleye: all you need is butter and some Ritz crackers. Dip fillets in melted butter then dredge through crushed crackers. Pat as much on there as you can. Bake in oven on a cookie sheet until done. Try not to over bake. Just until the fish is firm. Tastes like heaven. Just don't tell your doctor. ;)

High falootin' Yankees and their "boats"! I've got a monster sized fishing boat that would make anyone jealous. A whopping 15' aluminum john boat with a '96 Johnson 25hp. Even have a fish finder to boot (just need to get it put on the boat). Aux propulsion by means of an oar. Four rod holders but three of them still need installed. Heck, I even have a net!

There's only on reservoir here that is definitely big enough for your guys boat and that is on the western slope. The ones close enough to me are a bit smaller but you might be able to fit them on Eleven Mile. The lakes up here don't open until Apr 1 or until the ice is gone. Usually don't open until the middle of Apr, though. Those silly ice fishers are still out there.

I did find a nice stretch of river the other day that I'm dying to get on but weather took a change and gave us a little bit of snow last night. Lures or flies only, limit of 2 trout that must be over 16". I've got my gear in the back of the Blazer, including me waders, just waiting for some decent weather.

As to walleyes being the best eating fish, I'd throw barramundi into the mix. Caught a few while in Australia a few years back. Best shore lunch I've ever had and damn good eating when we cooked them up later on.

Wish I could say I'll be out on the water when the lakes open up but I kind of got grounded this summer. The wife has been after me to get a job so I got hired on with Parks and Wildlife as a boat inspector at one of the local lakes. Not a bad gig, its at one of the "trophy" lakes, 1 fish limit that must be over 20" for trout and they catch pike (no limit) up past 40" somewhat regular. Just need to figure out if I can bring me boat with me to work or not.

Very nice boats guys! Being a West Coast guy I had no Idea what walleye were all about. I knew guys fished em but that was about all.. I was at a restaurant in Minnesota and asked for salmon. The waitress had no idea what a salmon was but she said she has walleye. I figured I would try it. That fish is DELICIOUS! Much better than salmon IMHO.

I still got an aluminum StarCraft out back that hasn't seen water in years. I miss those days so enjoy your John boat. And that sounds like a dream gig busting guys over the limit. Darn poachers. ;) But we got us some great lakes around here. This boat fishes the western basin of Lake Erie and typically runs all out an hour or more just to get to the fish. Size helps. Some years we even get our Ontario fishing licenses and go up across the border. But the Homeland Security guys are sucking the fun out of that. It used to be you only had to call customs if you set foot on Canadian shore. Now it's an issue if you just cross the red line on your GPS. Canada doesn't care as long as you have your fishing license. But it's us when you cross back over the line coming home. I haven't figured out the best way to deal with that...

High falootin' Yankee? My first boat was a 12' starcraft that came with oars. When I did become exceedingly wealthy I bought a 9.9 Merc that really opened my horizons. I've found that no matter how big a boat you get they always seem to shrink when you put them into the water. I was the president of Lake Erie Sport Fishermen, Inc. for about eight years. Our organization was instrumental in banning the gill nets in the Ohio waters of Lake Erie and in having the walleye reclassified as a game fish. That ban brought our walleye fishery back. My friends referred to me as "The Godfather" of Lake Erie. That was before I lost my way and adopted the persona of Muggsy. Good fishin' ya'll.

Here's mine. I like my walleye extra crunchy. Bread the fillets with crushed corn flakes. Coat the fillets in flour, dip the fillets into well beaten eggs and coat with crushed corn flakes. Salt and pepper to taste. Fry the fish in peanut oil as hot as you can't get it until the fillets are a golden brown. Don't over cook. The fish is done when the meat turns white. Serve with french fries and Walleye White wine from Mon Ami's. Cheers.

I used to river fish a lot more than lake fish(never owned a boat)mostly on the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers. I was more of a bass fisherman, because I usually caught and released since I didn't care for too many types of fish. One of the last times I fished with a buddy of mine from Minnesota, we were just arriving on the Wisconsin river at 4:30 am to shore fish in our favorite spot near Prairie Du Chein, Wi. It's nice because you can fish those rivers on either side........Minnesota or Wisconsin with one license. We had only been there for 5 minutes, when my friend says, " I've got this new large electric blue Rattl trap." Next thing I know, he's crapping his pants and hauls in a 12.2 lb, 28" wally. Needless to say, we had to collect all of our ice, get the fish on it, cut the fishing short, and head to a way station. Biggest wally I've ever seen. He was grinning from ear to ear. He had it mounted on a piece of driftwood that looks like a slingshot. Beautiful mount. I kept giving him s#!t about having to leave. He said, " Some day, you'll get even." The last time we fished together, we were in Minnesota, on the Wisconsin river, fishing from a boat landing, and it must have been my turn to get even. Caught a 24", 7.8 lb. smallie. " We're even."
