View Full Version : PM9 Recoil?
I've been looking at this model for a ccw gun. The size and 14 oz weight sure are enticing for this purpose. However, how's the recoil? Seems like it would be quite stiff with only that much weight. I currently shoot a S&W Mod 60 w/3" barrel with no issues but, that's a bit heavier being all steel. Comments? In scanning the threads, I'm not finding much in the way of complaints.

The PM9 is an excellent shooter for a 9mm make-it-disappear carry gun with a 3" barrel. None better.

I have the cheaper CM9. Perfect little carry gun in a 9mm. Recoil is fine. No complaints. I love mine

I can shoot full powered loads all day with mine. Sweet shooter, best you'll find in a micro nine.

I have a CM9 and PM9. Both shoot softer than my Springfield XD9SC. Great shooting little guns.

A little more recoil noticed with +P, but that's what I carry in my PM9 or P9... Speer +P 124-gr Gold Dots Short Barrel version.
If you shoot full-powered ammo in a snubbie, the PM9 should be no problem.

I think you will find that its one of the most comfortable shooting micro's out there..... I shot the Ruger LC9 and it has a very uncomfortable flip.

Its not a range pistol , lite and snappy but a great micro 9mm carry pistol . It does what it was designed for very well . The kahrs not as hard to shoot well as your model 60 with hot 125gr magnum loads . Now buy away !!
OH , a CT9 or TP9 would make a great replacement for the model 60 as a larger carry model to the small kahr . The feel and function be the same is a plus and the larger 8 shot mags work for better grip during break in and for back up needs , Always nice to have the same feel and function with both large and small carry handguns and both could use the same holsters .

Hey Ron. Did you watch the video in this stickied thread? It might be helpful for your decision making. All guns recoil. What's most important is how quickly you can wrangle the gun back on target. Quite a bit of that depends on practice/skill and physical conditioning. If you are committed to mastering the PM9 (or any handgun really) you will get it working for you. The only real caveat I've found is for those with specific pain points in their hands/wrists/arms. If recoil is targeted in a pain trigger area, it will lead to flinching and poor results on target. More practice (more pain) won't help. http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?14553-Finally-Recoil-Cam-is-Done

"Snappy" is a good word, especially for +p rounds and heavier bullet weights. It is very controllable and there is no issues with that. It will be snappier than your revolver. I off-set my +P recoil with going to 124 grain, stronger recoil spring, and comfortable grip tubes, but that is an individual thing.
Thank you to all who responded. No surprises really. I've decided to go with it and will be getting one shortly. Now if I can just point it where the bullet goes...:-)
At age 78 it's getting more difficult than it was 60 years ago!
