The only Kahr I've ever shot is my CW380. I bought it for its size, the ability to conceal it and carry it most anywhere. My hands are way too big for it though. I can shoot it pretty well but it is awkward to get a good hold on it. I prefer the grip of a full sized Sig Sauer or CZ, I have both. Since I like the Kahr trigger so much I've always wanted to try a larger one. The K9 is what I wanted but balked at the price. The range I go to had a CW9 in stock this morning. Still a bit small but I could get a good grip on it. The sights and trigger pull were perfect. I really don't need another gun, (4 9mm, 1 .45 and 1 .380) but I will have one soon.

Just 6? You need to get busy. ;) If you really want a K9, a used one can be very reasonable. There have been several for sale here. But a CW9 will be a little lighter on your belt as well as your wallet. Happy hunting!

While I don't own a CW9, I do the CM9 & CW380. Both are great values and solid shooters.

The CW9 was a great business decision for Kahr. Same as the others at half the price!

I have both the CW380 and CW9. I love them both but carry the CW9 every day.

I went back and forth between the CW9 and CW45 and wound up going with the CW45. I't slightly larger than the CW9 but barely. I've since picked up a CT380 for the larger grip size than the CW380. Both are a pleasure to shoot and the CT380 just disappears into the waistband even with shorts and a T-shirt.

My first Kahr was a CW45 a couple of years ago. It has proven to be a stellar firearm in every aspect.

It isn't a matter of "need". It is a matter of "want". :D

I really like the CW40... I even used it at a local club IDPA match a few times... https://youtu.be/EPHTjlRDibg

Im brand new to kahr, just picked up my cw9 for ccw and shot it for the first time easter sunday.
Gotta say its an awesome little gun, put about 70 rounds through it, not one single malfunction pretty accurate as well, but i gotta get warmed up to that trigger im used to my ruger sr9 and sr9c with a reset.
If the full size kahr were available in commifornia id get one of them too because i like the little guy soo much, cant wait to get it fully broken in and start carryin it!

Welcome to Kahrtalk! Glad yours is doing well.

My first Kahr was a PM9 - but gave it to my oldest son, and now have a CT380 & a CW45. Have been thinking about getting a CW9 just because most everybody seems to like theirs - and why not?

Every one of the 1000+ rounds that I have put through my CW9 have been flawless. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, extremely reliable.

I do have one question for you guys about the cw9 though, does it eventually loosen up? Its gotta be one of the tightest slides on any gun ive ever owned, my better half likes it for the size and she needs a ccw gun for purse carry but she can barely rack the slide!
Don't want her to not be able to load a round when she really needs to in a panic, heaven forbid that ever happens but i like to be prepared for what could happen.

She should be carrying it in Condition 1 - a round in the pipe.

Kahr does not recommend racking, or slingshotting, to load the first round. She should have the slide locked back, insert the loaded magazine, then release the slide stop lever to chamber the round. Remove the magazine, load one more round to fill it, then place it back in the pistol. 7+1 is the way they are designed to be carried (in a proper holster of course).

Says so in the manual, and for all the Kahr models if I'm not mistaken.

I carry my CT380 - which is almost as big as a CW9 - in a Remora Pocket Holster - the trigger is covered. She should have something similar for her CW9, if not a purse with a concealed pistol compartment.

I've racked a CW9 slide at a gunshop, and have racked my CW45 many times, but neither one of those was as tight as the slide on my little CT380. That thing was a bear to get loosened up just a little.

Hope your wife can get it to work easier for her.

Ok thanks, yeah i figured one in the pipe would be a good idea for this particular firearm but when i carry my sr9 i dont put one in the pipe nor my sr9c but i as well as her can have those guns ready to fire in less than a second, idk i just never liked the idea of condition 1 carry but nothin against it ill have to consider that myself for the cw9 i obviously carry in a holster though, the mrs though only carries in her purse and only when she works night shifts and has to walk through a parking garage after midnight in a bad neighborhood, but she's not an edc'er.
Ill have to see if i can find maybe a purse pocket holster if im gonna have her keep one in the pipe, dont think loose in the purse with one in the pipe is a good idea without some type of trigger cover, maybe a kydex deal that clips on the rim or something.
Anyway thanks guys appreciate the insight.

The Kahr's were designed from the ground-up to be personal small defensive pistols. They are not military pistols just made smaller, or a copy of another design. ^^^They are made to be carried with one in the chamber and in a holster. ^^^ The long smooth trigger pull is by design. To rack a slide requires 2 hands and is noisy. The Kahr design seems to be closer to a revolver than are other pistols.

It was still there today. I felt it up again but I'm about $100 short. Creative financing may resolve the problem.

I bought it. Here it is cleaned, lubed and ready to go. It will be next weekend before I can shoot it.

I'm no expert but it looks like the answer is, no. http://www.kahr.com/kahr-mag-guide.asp#9mmmag

Yes, here is the steel base plate to replace the plastic one:

Don't know why Kahr insists on the thick plastic base plates for the bigger guns, but have the flush steel plates on the smaller models.

I got to shoot it this morning. 100 rounds with no issues at all. It shot great, it was me that shot a little low and left. Pretty good for the 1st time shooting it though. I still love my CZ, Sig, Walther, 1911, CW380 and Glock and I'm very happy with this one too.
