A guy on another board just read April's Gun Tests magazine and reported this interesting tidbit:

Saw a small note in there that Kahr just got approval for the civilian sale of Thompson T1-14 .45 (Tommy Gun) Has a 14.5" barrel but adds a permanently mounted Cutts Comp. to equal 16" overall...Heavy SOB at 13lbs

How long was the barrel on the original "classic" WWII Thompson?

My Bushmaster (before Remington) has a 14.5" barrel with pinned compensator. I hate the pinned situation. Locks you into the one choice.

I've never understood the short-barrel-pinned-compensator workaround. The guns are the same overall length right? Wouldn't you just be better with the longer barrel?

Don't know, but here's a pile of them somewhere in SE Asia:

I believe it was 10''. I'd love to have a 10'' on mine. Just the way they should be.
They are heavy though. Be nice to have a 10'' barrel and get down to 5 or 6 pounds instead of 13 to 15.

That's a sad damn picture right there. Very sad.

Why do we need a thread about a thread?

Why do we need a thread about a thread?

I've often asked "Why do we have to have a meeting about our Last meeting"

Good point. I think there's something in the toolbox to address this very thing. Let me see if I can find the toolbox.

Posted it in the Thompson forum for those folks who might never venture up in the general forum & vice-versa, if that makes any sense.

Having said that, I would love to use a Thompson on that 17 year old "suspect" who "allegedly" beat the beautiful young U. of Texas freshman coed to death so brutally with a hammer that DNA testing was needed to identify her body.
1st murder on the 50,000 student UT campus since I watched firsthand Charles Whitman doing his evil work in 1966.

I'm with you on that. We'll start with the extremities so he goes slow. Quick is too good for the piece of excrement.

Actually pretty good thinking on the double post really. I always just use "new post" so I most of the time don't even know what area I'm even in.
That must be how I end up in the politic threads sometimes. I try to be more careful on that these days.

Too depressing.
