The wife and I will be heading up nort the weekend of May 7th, to the Mauston, Wi Wisconsin River Meats annual pork fest. I love me some pig roast. You get the small town ambiance, and what's better than some juicy roasted pig. If your not the squeamish type, they have a processing school that allows participants and everyone else to watch the cutting, curing, cooking, and packaging of the mighty pig. They also have the Farmers market where you can get other goodies, such as home made maple syrup, of which I purchase a few bottles. People watching, small town atmosphere, good food, live music..........a good way to get away from the large city madness. The first one of the year. I go mainly for the info, and the pig. A roasted pork dinner for $8 will get me every time. Hope the sun is out:)

Sounds like fun!
I'm from Tampa and miss southern BBQ.
Now is AZ and the sun seems to be out continuously - LOL!:p
Thinking about running out to Cabelas (never been in one before)

Mmmmm, I love swine flesh. One of the benefits of living in the south east is the large variety of BBQ pork. I love those home town festivals.

We have a bunch of Cabela's up here. It's where I go to fondle a firearm before I purchase it somewhere else.:p Lots of stuff to look at......................................

You ain't much on trees down there in AZ are ya? I love some of the desert pictures Greg post, really nice.

Not sure I could deal with the never ending heat myself but I guess folks get used to it.

Reminds me I need to throw a couple of butts into the smoker if we ever get a decent day that coincides with my days off. We ran out of pulled pork a couple of months ago and the wife has been getting a bit too grouchy lately.

Arizona is not all one flat desert and neither is it 115 degrees all of the time. Northern AZ features lots of trees, the kind you're used to, while Southern AZ has desert type trees like palms. You can ski in Northern AZ during the winter while Southern AZ temperature can drop down into the 30's. Eastern AZ gets healthy doses of rain due to the storms that blow in from the Pacific Ocean. I'm from Phoenix where the weather can get up to 115 degrees but it's not so bad once you learn to keep cool, drink water to keep hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Arizonians know a lot about air conditioning. A lot of "outside" folks, I mean like Easterners, Canadians, etc. own seasonal homes here where they spend the winter months and enjoy the mild climate. I especially love the spring and fall months. The best time of the year to spend lots of time outdoors. AZ is very friendly to gun owners, a real change from the neighbor to our West. If you like to golf, you'd be in golfer heaven here.

We got Evergreens, yall apparently got Everbrowns.

Don't get me wrong, I love the desert and such. If I had a great pair of legs, I'd be down there wandering around hopefully with Greg as a guide and walking very very carefully.

Many, many people from my state have places in AZ. They love the warmth, and can't deal with the cold any more. No offense to Arizonian's(such a thing) but I much prefer being able to be outside in the summer and locked up in the winter, versus being locked up in the summer, and outside in the winter. I like having seasons. I think that may be my ex mother in law in that last pic.........................................
