I have a Thumbler to clean brass and do not need anymore brass cleaning stuff. I have thought about getting an ultrasonic cleaner to clean pistols and BCGs in my ARs.
Harbor Freight has one that seems like it might be a good introductory item but they do not give the internal dimensions, only the volume. I was going to call them or maybe go by their store but the closest one to me is about an hours drive.
Anyone use these or this one specifically to clean their 9 mm Kahrs?

Thinking it would save a lot of effort I had a buddy clean a Ruger Mark 1 in his ultrasonic cleaner. I'm not sure what equipment he used but it did a real good job. It didn't really save that much work tho as I still had to get the pistol properly lubricated. I'll stick with the old fashioned way.

A lot of police departments and gunsmiths use them. There must be something there. They do knock out a lot of dirt and grime you can't get to otherwise and they're safe to use on firearms. Bonus...You'll make your bride really happy when you clean her jewelry in it.
I dont think they're all they're cracked up to be.
My thought is that, for arms, they provide an easy end to a task. Field strip (if that), soak in the cleaner, rinse, blow dry. It saves time, as you let the machine do the work. It saves mishap from disassembling the weapon - including parts loss, breakage, wear of all the mechanism, and incorrect reassembly. And, because you have minimal disassembly, there is greatly reduced liability, due to all the above.
When you consider the average rifle or pistol, getting careful use and careful cleaning, vs a duty weapon that gets grunged up from daily carry, shot comparatively little... the ultrasonic bath makes sense. But, I don't think the job done is as good as bristle brush and patches in the bore.

To each their own. Ultrasonic cleaners don't replace bristle brushes or patches they just make for a lot less/easier brushing and patching.

I have a friend that has a larger Ultrasonic Cleaner that he bought from Brownell's to use on his Class 3 stuff. He said one had to be sure and get everything lubed well after using the cleaner or the parts would rust.
