S&W just announced a Shield in .45. Where's our Kahr K45?????

I had a Shield 40. Thought it was the best carry gun ever, I just didn't like the 40. I was actually going to trade it in for a Shield 9. I am not a real fan of the 9mm either. Just so happened the LGS had a couple of Kahrs, a CW45 and a CT380. The CW45 fit my hand like a glove and I bought both of the Kahrs. Had their been a Shield 45 then, I probably never would have bought the Kahr.
Now I need to decide whether to keep the Kahr, or trade it on the Shield. I think they are about equal but I will rate the Shield about 1/2 star above the Kahr. I think it has a better trigger and reset, plus it's easier to take down. Sorry guys.

No need to apologize, different strokes for different folks.
I hated the trigger on my first Shield (didn't care for the grip either) and sold it. Later, after Melissa posted about installing an Apex sear in her's, I decided to reconsider the Shield. That sear erased my gripe with the trigger and after a little work on the grip with the Dremel (and a few other tools) I was satisfied with the it. They are a nice gun and I'll probably spring for a 45 version (hopefully not another sear).

Greg

I love the 9mm Shield but I'll probably install some Apex parts eventually. I'm not crazy about the trigger. An all stainless K45 with rubber grips would really give me a woody.

Me also. Maybe the Kahr fairy is listening.
I own both a Shield 9 and .40. Love them both, carry them both (not at the same time tho :p ) If S&W does really come out with a Shield .45 then I'll be more than happy to add it to my M&P collection

Great! Does it come microstamping capable? If not, we will never see it in California....

If CZ ever puts the .45 in the Compact 75 frame I am toast. To the doghouse I will sprint!

You could always go with an EAA/Tanfoglio Compact Witness in 45ACP

I had a Witness in 9mm. It's another of those I regret selling. I'd say it was as good as my 75B except that it's front sight was not interchangeable.
When I was down sizing my 9mm pistols, it was a hard choice between letting it or the 75B go. That I had a Kadet kit for the 75B was the deciding factor in keeping the CZ.

I'm a CZ fan, but I'd but another Witness without hesitation. Now though, I'm kind of jonesing for a Shield in 45ACP.

Now I'm jonesing for a Shield 45 too. I've been hankering for a M&P45 Compact but the Shield would be smaller yet.
Bobshouse, I don't usually do this for just anybody but if we can put together a couple Shield 45's you could pop up for a box of Washington apples or something.
You never know what you'll find in the apple boxes. Sometimes good things.
Now I need to focus on marbles to get a Shield 45 before Greg. There goes the 14 bucks I got saved again towards my Schofield.
Never ends, you guys are a bad influence on me.
I love the looks of them CZ's too. Never owned one YET. Bout the same with the Witness, many years ago I almost got one of those but didn't happen.
So many toys, so little time.

That would be worth the drive! Course before I could do that, I'd have to buy some new tires....guess I can't borrow any cash from you since you just emptied your Schofield cookie jar.

It's the old adage. Walk or make payments.
Truth be told it would work best if we could find a buy one get one free deal. I can afford the free one.
Actually if we can find that deal, you won't have to buy tires. I'll deliver. Even if it means I have to drive to California.
Well you might have to drive some. I ain't going to far south. Northern part would be best for me, get in, get out, ya know?

You better delete that post Bawanna, they find out that your a California sympathizer, they might burn your house down. I do know that if I drove up there, I wouldn't come back.

Well at least your heads thinking right. We got room for a couple more but we're gonna have to put a halt to it here pretty soon.
Transplants have already plumb ruined my side of the mountains. There's still a bit of common sense and intelligence on Alfonse's side where I hope to be too some day but our side is plumb full of Subaru driving tree hugging cross dressers and guess what I ams.
Especially around the Seattle area but it's spreading badly.

Considering the PM/CM-45 is better at being what a M&P Shield in .45 wants to be.... I'm afraid the Shield won't be finding a home in my pocket, or safe... no need, I've got things that are better.

I'd have to shoot both side by side before deciding that. The Kahr has simplicity, size (I think...), and a great trigger on its side. The Shield really oozes quality and professionalism to me. If I didn't own either one it would be a hard choice.
Not that Kahr doesn't have an air of "professionalism" and quality, but I feel the M&P line is a step above most.

First, I'm a big Shield fan. I have a regular Shield 9, and I also have a Shield 9 Performance Center, which I have reviewed here:
http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?28023-New-M-amp-P-Shield-Performance-Center-9mm
The new Shield .45 is really calling out to me, but since I have my CW45 running the way I like it, I'd have a hard time justifying it. I just don't think it would be that much better than my CW45. I also have a S&W 1911 SC-e, which I have reviewed here:
http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?28495-My-New-S-amp-W-1911SC-e
Between the CW45 and the 1911 SC-e, my single-stack .45 CCW needs are more than covered. Plus, I just got a new K9 Elite which is quickly becoming my favorite carry piece, so I just don't need another carry gun in any caliber.
Now if S&W ever comes out with a Performance Center version of the Shield .45, all bets are off...........

Hope I will be able to say the same CJB, I have a friend who is selling me his CM45. He has been nice enough to let me shoot almost 500 rounds through it with no problems. I'm still a little nervous about getting it, cause if Kahr has to replace the frame for any reason, I won't be able to get it back as it's not on the current "approved" list.

Be an outlaw! Don't pay no mind to that silly "approved" list.
You mostly likely won't ever need a frame but if you do we'll figure out a way.
One way would be to have your friend send it back but again it probably won't have to go back so lets not burn that bridge till it's time to cross, wait that can't be right, why would you burn the bridge you need to cross, that would be plumb silly.

No way! I know a few guys who where locked up because they burned the bridges they crossed. No, wait, they burned their crosses at the bridge, sorry, I get confused at times...nevermind!!

I played around with the Shield .45 at NRA 2016. There are cuts in the top of the slide as if it was ported (it's not). The grip is a bit larger in circumference than the 9MM, and is MUCH more roughly textured. The trigger.....just like the other Shields. I'll take a PM45, thanks.

AWESOME! I'm really excited that S&W added a .45 auto to the lineup and continue's to improve the model. I can't wait to get my hand's on one to add to my M&P collection....

When they release it I will be a buyer! The 9mm is a great pistol and think the 45 will be just as good.
Not trying to troll but in all honesty I have over 7355 rounds fired thru my M&P Shield 9 with out one single issue. I have however had my CM9 fail to lock back the slide when it was new (it no longer does it now after broken in) My k9 has been 100% reliable and unfortunately I sold off my CW40 due to the mag kept dropping on me after a couple rounds... My M&P Shield 40 has been rock solid with 600 rounds thru it to date.... Point is, I feel that with that being said the Shield 9 is my EDC as it's proven reliable.... I can't wait to get my hands on a Shield 45!
