Well guys I have really enjoyed reading and conversing with you all on this site over the past several months.
I guess I have finally became another Obama statistic down here in Florida and not due to performance of duty mind you...strickly numbers and overhead. I always knew bankers who control the company loans on working capital only bank because they couldn't make it in the real business world. Although I had always been the source of revenue here at work as far as selling, estimating and managing work, I became a stat yesterday. I was currently doing 75% of the work and almost all of the profit and positive revenue for a long time.
Seeings haow construction been hit the hardest especially down here in Florida, find any kind of job is going to be scarce as hens teeth much less being able to replace a good income. So If you all don't here from me for a while you will know why.
stay tuned as the stomach turns.

For what it's worth they are threatening to lay off 6 employees here at my PD. So far my name isn't on the head hunter list. It's all do to city council and the executives not being too smart but that's too long a story to tell here. Not a huge job market for deaf old guys in wheelchairs with bad attitudes but I really didn't care if I was on the list. Got friends on the list and if they pull their plug it's gonna get ugly around here.

Thanks guys for the vote of cofidence. It is a hard pill to swallow when the commander in chief says crap like, well you always can go on unemployment like he said at the mayors conference a few weeks ago in the Gulf.
Novemeber can't come soon enough...I thought I was on the rampage before, its not even close now! At least I might have some time to attend more Tea Parties and reload some more ammo.
Too bad I am getting a little long in the tooth...used to be a pretty touch ombray back in the day. Considering this, being a mercenary and advisor is no longer an option....all one can do now is run to the end of my leash and bark. Still have a nasty hard nosed disposition, crotchetty old fart though, perfect for this market as a State Certified Roofing Contractor, veteran Estimator/ Senior Project Manager.
See you guys around the barn.

Hey, DKD, sorry to hear about your problem. Hang in there, cream always rises to the top. I'm sure there's someone who's seen your work ethic and knows you're a quality individual. It may take some time but I'm sure you'll find something else worthwhile. And from the way you talk, I can tell you're not the type of individual who will sit around and wait for something to happen. Good luck and keep us informed.:p

The Obama Economy rolls on.

Sorry to hear of your troubles DKD.

The Feds are the only ones with money anymore since the private sector is in the process of being destroyed. Here's a list of Federal jobs in Florida right now. Haven't clicked on any of the links but hopefully they are of some help:

Florida Government Jobs and Federal Employment state, local and federal government jobs (http://www.americajob.com/Florida.asp?cid=0&tid=-1)
Florida Federal Jobs - Florida Government Jobs (http://federalgovernmentjobs.us/job-location/florida-fl.html)
Federal Government Jobs in Florida (http://www.jobbankusa.com/FederalJobs/federal-government-jobs-in-florida.html)

Hope something turns up. I'll be praying for you.

DKD,

You mentioned you were in construction. As I stated, I think the only good security is with the federal government right now, since they're sucking all of the money out of the private sector. And being in construction, let me suggest you give the Army Corps of Engineers a shout. The Jacksonville ACoE jobs site is located at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers® — Jacksonville District (http://www.saj.usace.army.mil/Divisions/Executive/Branches/CPAC/index.htm) although other districts have similar web sites.

Sorry if you've already thought of this before. Not trying to patronize; just trying to help.

Best wishes.

For DKD or anyone else out there looking for a job (or second job) I found a better link to US Government Federal jobs. This one seems more official than some of the other ones I posted and you can search by state, zip code, key words, etc. Seems to have a good range of Federal jobs out there. Check it out:

USAJOBS - The Federal Government's Official Jobs Site (http://www.usajobs.gov/)

Why is it that when the ole belt needs tightening and money needs to be found the only place they seem to be able to find it is by reduceing military, teachers, police and firemen? They won't even talk about finding it in unuseful places.

Amen to that. We're losing 6 line troops, officers and office workers to save money when the chief and deputy chief both make upwards of 150 grand a year. No man alive worth that. Times are tough, fire the janitor.
Get rid of the people that get the work done and keep the people that watch.
Maybe I should ban myself for 30 days, I'm getting a bad attitude.????
