I have just upgraded my carry piece to a P9, black with night sights. I plan to carry IWB in a leather/kydex holster (Raw Dog Tactical). How well will the black coating hold up to the kydex? FYI: The same holster I have for my PM9 seems to make fairly loose contact on the slide and locks-in on the trigger guard.

Please advise,
Jim

It will probably start wearing where it makes contact with the trigger guard.

With the trigger guard being polymer, that won't be a prob. My question is about the slide. How durable will the black be on the gun when exposed to kydex.

it will show wear but I train with my Kahr so it gets holstered a lot. If it is worn but not drawn a lot I think you will be fine.

I've carried my black pm45 in an alien gear iwb. The leather has started to polish the corners near the muzzle and the edges of the slide release. By no means are any of the spots noticeable without really looking for the wear. I have now started to carry same gun in an owb kydex holster. No new noticeable wear anywhere. It's not going to make the gun look bad like bad cerakote does!!!

Leather is a bit easier wear wise and Kydex is much easier to mold and draw from but wear is a factor regardless of the finish on the firearm.
My solution is Garretts leather lined kydex holsters (http://www.giholsters.com/).

I carry an MK with a Birdsong slide, in a pocket holster. After 5+ yrs. of carry, the sides of the slide have a bit of wear, if you hold the slide sideways, but no color loss. All of the wear is at the muzzle end, on all of the rounded corners, where the firearm rubs on the bottom of the holster. I also carry it IWB in leather.......I don't believe there is any wear from that holster. I carry other manufacturers firearms in kydex, and am starting to see wear on the polymer, by the trigger guard. I also see a slight bit of wear on the sides of the slides, but they have been holstered a bit more than "normal". You have to look for side wear on the slides. Not much there................
