The slide will not go back far enough. I have checked the recoil spring and moved it around and the slide will still not go back far enough. Any suggestions?

BTW, I'd add to his video that it's best to center the spring end/tip towards the barrel:

I had tried moving the recoil spring around 8 or 10 times without any luck before posting and then after watching the above videos, so this morning I took it back to where I bought it and within 10 seconds of them having it in their hands they did what I could not do.

The problem is, I have no idea what they did different. I disassembled it again there and put it all back together. I have no idea what changed to allow them and me to reassemble it. I just want try and disassemble it on a Friday night or weekend until I feel confident I can always get it back together.

Thanks, but I am still puzzled.

Did you have the magazine in the gun by chance?

Moving the recoil spring assembly around as Greg pointed out usually does it for me but occasionally I just pull the trigger just a bit and the slide will move back.

I think we all get an occasion where the planets just don't seem to align.

You'll get it, just do like you suggest and the more you do it the easier it gets.

I've never noticed the front of the recoil assembly not lining up before but that might be what I've been adjust without knowing it. I assumed it was the back end but apparently it's the front.
