I asked this question on the PM/CM forum a couple of weeks ago but I wanted to see if there were any other opinions. I have a PM45 slide and barrel from a PM45 that I owned until about six months ago (I had to get a replacement slide when I ordered a new barrel so I had a spare set). I bought a new CM45 today and disassembled it then put the PM45 slide on the CM45 frame. It is a perfect fit. I called Kahr and asked if there was a difference in the frames and the answer was, not surprisingly, "yes, each frame is unique to the slide". I know that's BS so I'm wondering if the differences in the slides is too. So the question for you guys is, is there a difference in PM and CM frames (I know that there are obvious differences in parts of the slides and barrels)? Is there any reason why a PM slide would not function perfectly well on a CM frame?

Thanks.

Try it with a few snap caps. If it cycles and works properly go for it! I was thinking about buying a PM slide and barrel to try the same thing. Let us know what happens.

You asked before. You were told they'll work.

Call Kahr. Tell them you own a CM45 and a PM45. Tell them you took them both apart for cleaning. Now you're confused as to which receiver is which. See what they say then.

I know that I asked before, but the responses were opinions, not "I did it and it works" responses.

When I called Kahr today I told the guy that I was at the range and had disassembled a CM45 and a PM45 and I couldn't tell them apart. He said that the CM serial numbers start with C and that should resolve my problem. I then specifically asked about mixing the parts and that when I got the answer in my last post. I understand that it wouldn't make sense for Kahr to admit that the parts were interchangeable, both for marketing and legal reasons. I'll try it after I've broken the CM in.

If you haven't, I'd check that PM45 slide is engaging the front rails of the CM45 frame when the slide is in battery. You can do this by pinching the slide and dust cover together. Then, while holding them together, see if you can move the slide rearward. If the slide moves, then most likely the front rails are properly engaging the slide. If the slide doesn't move, then the frame rails are probably short of engaging the slide (I'd not use it if this condition exists).
BTW, it wouldn't hurt to do this test with the CM slide.
