Hi all, Jack here,
So on my initial post, I mentioned I had gotten a new-to-me K9, made probably mid-to-late 90's. At the time, I hadn't taken to the range. Since my inital post, well, long story short, I don't have it any more. The long story:
When I first got it, in all honesty, all I saw was "K9! Awesome! A little pricey gun for a really great price!" Of course not the most familiar with Kahr, only what I saw on Youtube.
Took it to the range a few days after my initial post. One word: Great. Great groups at 7, 10, and for giggles, 25yds. As an intermediate shooter, I felt my 8"-12" groups at 25 yds were a little impressive to me, considering I go to the range 3-4 times a month. The pistal was dead on accurate, recoil minimal; I kept saying to myself "looks like I got a keeper". Great range day, coming home excited. THEN I tried carrying it. I've only had my CCW for 18 months. I can't carry at work, so it goes in my glove box. Outside of work; movie theater, grocery store, gym bag, etc. felt like carrying a giant brick strapped to my side. I felt I had to keep checking to see if I was printing; I kept feeling self conscious about it. It was either paranoia or...well, paranoia. So after about a week, went back to the LGS, and spied a nice, slightly used CM9. Traded up with $100, haven't looked back since. Been to the range once with it. Popped about 150 rounds down range, plus a few Critical Duty rounds to test it out. It was everything I wanted and more. Fit simply in my glove box, fits neatly in my pocket. Bought an extended mag for it; it came with 2 mags, but the follower failed on the longer one, from the old K9, that or I broke trying to take apart for clean up. Only shooting with a Pacmayr Tac Sleeve, I am golden.
Haven't taken my inevitable pics yet, but I'm in no rush. Got a feeling I'll be keeping it a while.
Quick question: has kahr ever had a double stack model? In the market for home defense, and either a double stack Kahr or a SW SD9VE would do. Enjoy the double action trigger safety features.
