Link to my favorite singer belting out La Marseillaise. I tried to find a good video clip but EMI has blocked its playing in this country and most of the clips I found were poor and had lyrics in every language but French or English. Anyhow, Veuillez écouter:

This version brings tears to my eyes... from Casa Blanca:

Added: This is my second favorite national anthem. None is better than ours, but La Marseillaise is the second best! Both songs are born in war and invoke great patriotic feelings.

My maternal Grand-mère was Acadian French from St. Genevieve, Missouri. Here's her 21st birthday photo taken in 1896:

I got to visit France quite a bit while stationed near there '83-86. I even got to Paris a couple of times... the last in April '85 with my not-quite-at-the-time, but wife-to-be. :)

I'm sure glad that we got a travel in Europe because I wouldn't want to go back there now, especially unarmed with all of the Muslim "rape-fugee-immigrants". I don't know if the French people have it in them to wage another revolution.

Was standing among them in the Place de la Bastille in Paris on July 14, 1999. They do know how to party. Paris is a much different city now.

Ste. Genevieve is my hometown, AB. Place is full of French heritage. My maternal grandfather was half French, what a fun, cool grandpere he was!

We were stationed in Angouleme, France back in the early 60's, lived downtown. Course I learned French, otherwise I'd be a friendless little 5 year old running around on the streets...can't remember a damn word of it today though...lol.

Grandma was from the LaRose family. I know there are a lot of cousins in the St. Louis area.

Many LaRose families in Ste Genevieve still. As a child, l lived on LaRose street. Small world!
