Hi, everyone. I've been a Kahr owner and carrier since 2002. I bought what I'm assuming is one of the first P9s---traded a SIG P239 for it---and it's been my EDC since then. Great gun. The thinness and lightness were revelations compared to the aluminum framed guns I'd carried before that. When I decided I needed a .380, I bought a new CW380 at a gun show for a price way cheaper than I expected. But I have two problems and a question.

1) I know the CW380 needs a break in, and I have 300 rounds through it so far. The first 100 rounds were a disaster. FTF, mag dropping, failure to go into battery. I could barely rack the slide, and I'm not weak. So I read some break in articles, started leaving the slide locked back overnight and racking the slide a hundred or more times every night. That helped considerably. When it works, it's great. Smooth Kahr trigger, minimal recoil, and it's so small it rides in my Levi's pocket in a Desantis Nemesis with no problem. But damned if it's not a picky eater. I never slingshot it, always charging a round by depressing the slide stop. But when I try to do that with Remington Personal Defense JHPs, the top round will not feed about 25% of the time. I've actually destroyed two rounds this way---the bullet gets JAMMED backwards in the case, making an even shorter .380. It seems to feed Cor-Bon JHPs no problem, and eats Winchester White Box FMJ reliably. I am considering shipping it to Kahr to make this thing 100 percent reliable. 300 rounds should be enough to work out bugs, no?

2) I finally managed to get my slide stop spring UNDER the protrusion, so I mangled the spring, rendering my P9 unusable. I saw the tech sticky on replacing it, and it looks easy enough, but my P9 doesn't have a screw retaining the spring. It has a plastic D-shaped cam lock(?). How do I remove this thing and replace the spring AND the cam with a screw and washer. I don't want to have to send BOTH my Kahrs in for service...

3) My next EDC gun will be a small .45---either the Springfield Armory XD-S or the Kahr CM45. They're both small. I like the ergos of the Springfield, and I shot a .40 subcompact XD well enough . The manual of arms of the CM45 would be exactly like my other two Kahrs, which means training with one of them means simultaneously training with all of them. Muscle memory and all that. But I've seen many complaints that the CM45 can't eject a live round. Those complaints weren't exactly recent, and I'm hoping Kahr fixed this on later production---but if they haven't it's a deal killer for me. Is this still an issue?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help. I should've posted here years ago, but my P9 has always been literally perfect. Never a bobble, ever.

My CM45 ejects them fine, welcome to the forum!

My objection would be to the short barrel of the CM45. Not only would you need to find a round that functions 100% but also a round that would give some expansion from a round that was originally developed using a 5" barrel. The 9 mm is based on a 4" barrel. Why not use a short barrel 9mm that both penetrates and expands to 50-60 caliber vs. a .45 which may over penetrate and not expand at all? No real world experience, just ballistic testing reviews. Lucky gunner.com and ammo quest.com.

The Speer Gold Dot has a good reputation for expansion in short barrel lengths. Realistically I just want a .45 to carry. :-) That way, when people ask why I carry a .45, I can reply "Because they don't make a .46.".

I carry Civil Defense in my P9---figure it should work pretty well out of a .45 also. http://carteach0.blogspot.com/2014/01/liberty-civil-defense-ammunition-meaty.html

I agree totally. When I say I carry a .45, most people respond with a head nod and a grin.:)
However the test results for the Speer was in a 3.5 " barrel CW45, not a 3" barrel CM45. I carry a CM9 and a CW45.
