Hi, new guy to Kahrtalk. I'm trying to purchase a 1911 through Kahr's NRA instructor program. I sent in my paperwork early April, and customer service has been unresponsive to downright ignoring me, the guy I'm trying to deal with claims that he has been forwarding my emails to 'the person in charge of the program' and claims that this person, who I've never heard from, has been sending me emails requesting my cc expiration date that I never received, that he says 'must have gone to your spam folder'. I've sent this info to this guy twice, and asked for confirmation that the order will process and shipping info, and I've yet to receive a response for several days and the last time I checked my cc wasn't charged. My dealer was asked for a copy of his ffl shortly after I placed my order in April, which he sent.

I don't own any of their other products, so this is my first experience with them. Is extremely poor customer service typical of Kahr?

Thanks,
Cofaler

Haven't dealt with them for about 5 years but I did get good results when I called on Monday morning early like just before their advertised time.

So it wasn't in your spam folder? Did you confirm they have your correct email address? Sounds like they won't charge your cc because they don't have the expiration date. If your FFL heard from them, Kahr must have your order.

Sounds like communication breakdown. That can usually be overcome with patient persistence. Good luck.

I bought exactly one gun, a rifle, through the NRA Instructor program. It was a Kimber All American Match .22LR. Kimber (Kimber of Oregon) never made good on it. Had to chase them for the money back (like 14 or 16 months of chasing with the issuer of my Visa card). Ended up getting one at a better deal though Champion's Choice. Other instructors I've talked with pretty much say the left hand and right hand have no idea what the other is doing, aka, someone mentions something to the high ups in the instructor program, those folks announce it, but the original people have no idea what they promised, or how to respond to the wave of demand. Just my 2c

My club bought a bunch of them a few years ago, and Kahr seemed familiar with the program and came through in a reasonable time. I need to call them during the day and get this thing finalized but I get busy at work and don't think about it till it's too late. NRA instructor price is $330 plus $30 shipping, a pretty good price for a made-in-the-USA 1911. I'll keep you posted....

Got a call from my ffl on my way home from work saying I had a gun to pick up. Guess what it was? 17 weeks from the time I placed my order to the day I picked it up. The 'customer service' rep told me around week 5 that it would take 4 to 6 weeks. When I got home I had an email from him telling me the gun had shipped the day before, and gave me the tracking number. He also told me that patience and gratitude were traits I needed to work on. Really? I think I'm done.
