View Full Version : Slide stuck on manual racking

Brand new CW380. When manually racking the slide, it stops just past the take-down align marks (see photo). It happens in 95% cases. Can't force it to return all the way no matter what. The only way was to pull the slide back, lock the slide release lever, then use it to release the slide. And now I'm sort of in a pickle, as I was taking the gun apart, trying to diagnose what was causing it to stick. I removed the slide stop lever, then decided to rack the slide back slowly, just to see if it caught. It did, and now the slide is stuck without any possibility to release it (as I got the slide release lever out). Any suggestions will be appreciated.

do I understand that with the slide lock out, you are completely jammed up and can't remove the slide? If you can pull the slide back, check the striker to see that it moves freely.

Would pulling the trigger release it?

Yes.

After jiggling the slide for a while with the trigger pulled, I was able to release the slide. Looks like something's around striker assembly getting caught up on the frame or something... I took out the recoil spring, the barrel, replaced the slider, and it still gets jammed in that same position.

Okay. Take the slide off and look on underside where the striker and spring are located, grab the 'foot' of the striker and see if you can pull it back against the spring. It seems to me that the slide is getting caught when the cocking cam lobe begins to engage the striker foot.

My CW380 did that. Ended up being some wear from the polymer on the lower. After I got it off I filed down the rough spot where it was getting hung up on
