Kahr cw40 field strip issues

So I just finished field stripping, cleaning, and reassembling my Kahr CW40 after reassembling it I noticed the slide lock is incredibly difficult to engage. I had to use the back end of a screw driver to release the slide. I did a function check and the gun seems to be working but for some reason the slide lock has become very stiff. Any advice on this, did I mess something up?

An update: It appears the slide lock is only hard to release when a magazine is inserted.

It's designed that way. So you know your trying to load an empty magazine.

Put some bullets in it and it should release fine and dandy.
