Hello all. I just picked up a new K9 this afternoon and have already taken it apart and oiled per the diagram posted here. This site was a great help on making my decision to buy a Kahr over the other popular offerings. One thing I have noticed, is that the trigger bar spring hangs up a bit and creates the sensation that the trigger isn't as smooth as the cw9 I tried at the LGS. I did put some oil on it but it still drags a bit. Can't wait to break it in! My other two pistols are stainless, a 1911 and 357, so the Khar fits right in the family.

Welcome! I lust after a K9. Beautiful pistols. Hope you have fun breaking it in! Some smart fellers on here if you have any problems.

Thanks guys. The funny thing is, I knew nothing about Kahr until a couple of weeks ago while trying to decide on a nice compact 9 to purchase. I had shot recently some of the more popular 9mm single and double stack models, and was seriously considering a Ruger SR9c. Very nice shooting gun. But if I am ever goint to carry, I don't want to have to worry about a safety or a touchy trigger. I like the trigger pull on my revolver and the weight of it, but it is not easily concealable. So I do indeed like heavier models, but everything I tried in a 9 was striker fired polys. Anyway, after much searching I read about Kahr and their DA trigger, and I thought it would be a perfect fit for me. I fondled a cw and cm at the local range shop and decided I liked the longer grip better but I still wanted a stainless model...so that led me to decide upon the k series. My local ffl dealer found only 2 in inventory from his main distributor so I had him order one for me and the next day it was here. Pretty excited about this one. I've cycled the trigger about 500 times in my basement and it is already getting smoother (just the spring rub I can still feel a bit but no worries). I love the feel of it so far. I hope to get out to the range this week.

Welcome!

So you took the grips off and inspected the trigger bar and spring? If not, do so. You can lightly sandpaper any burrs. Also flush out the striker channel with brake clean. You can use the cleanout hole in the bottom of the slide plus spray some down the firing pin hole. Sometimes there is manufacturing debris in there. Leave it dry. That might help the trigger smooth out faster for you.

I took the grip panels off. It is definitely the spring hanging up a bit. I'll sandpaper it if it is still noticeable after break in. Thanks.

Is this another creaky Kahr trigger? Someone at Kahr needs a spanking.

Well, I solved the trigger bar and spring issue. The real issue is that the long end of the spring, the end that inserts into the channeled slot of the frame, was bent upwards at too much of an angle. This prevented the spring from being in contact with the rear of the channel, and it allowed the spring to slide forward and rearward a bit as the trigger bar moved. I held the spring firmly in place on the frame with a screwdriver and pulled the trigger a few times. Just by stopping the movement of the spring, the trigger feedback was 90% better (I could no longer detect the spring catching on the trigger bar). Well, maybe just a bit but nothing like before. So I took the spring out and straightened the end a bit where it curves up. I straightened it so that the end of the spring fit snugly against the rearward curved portion of the channel. This prevents the back-and-forth spring movement as the trigger bar is being worked. So now, like I said, the feedback from the trigger is about 90% better. Simple fix for sure!

It may be a simple fix, but I'd find a way to bugger it up.

Today I took some 800 grit to the trigger bar. The transition from the flat part of the bar to the radiused part wasn't very smooth. This caused the spring to want to hang up just a bit while puling the trigger very slowly. The spring now rides much smoother. It didn't take much sanding to improve it. Tomorrow I will install the metal mag followers and ss guide rod.

I installed the new metal mag followers with no problems. They took about 1 minute each to install

My CW9 trigger bar is driving me nuts. It's definitely the same spring/trigger bar contact you described. Did you remove the side plate from the frame to get it out? I don't have the right size torx screwdriver yet for that, but it seems like that's the logical place to start. I was going to polish the bar and maybe take some 800 grit to the spring if I can. I can't see any difference between this spring/bar relationship and that of my PM45, which is silent and smooth as glass.

Do not remove the trigger bar. Only straighten the trigger bar spring if it creeps back and forth like mine did. Remove the spring and take 800 or 1000 grit to the trigger bar where the spring rides. If you want, just email me mikeavery1044@gmail.com and I can send pics.

Sorry, I just realised we have different models. Maybe what I described does not apply to your poly framed gun. You may email me or pm me nonetheless.

I think the K9 doesn't have the removable side plate, which is a difference in disassembly.

You're right. I forgot the poly frames are different.

When you remove the grip on the K9 or MK you see the same thing though.

With the poly you remove the little plate to access the same stuff.

The spring is easy to remove, not the orientation to reinstall it correctly. Removing the trigger bar? I wouldn't go there.
Really no need.
