I did the following before getting the courage to make this last mod; first I polished the snot out all my mags,(600,1000,2000 grt. paper, then flitz) some light mag squeezeing, and some light sanding of grip rails; all helped to some degree. thanks to all who offered those tips.
what I found to make the most improvement IMO was add height ( .060) to the release button by installing a 8-40 x 1/4 screw and removing .010 off the shoulder which engages the slot in the mag body. all my mags are now drop free, the release button has not interfered with either two handed, strong hand or weak hand grip shooting , and is not a accidental release issue during a draw from my pocket holster or either my IWB or my OWB holsters.
I did not want to do anything with the mag spring as I wanted to retain positive mag lockup which I still have.
maybe try this fix before polishing mags; but they DO shine so fine!
