Hi ... I was trying to purchase a new CA Compliant MK9 #M9093A ... I went to the local authorized dealer to purchase one and they said they were all out and it was a special order :(... So I placed a order with deposit with no know delivery date ... I then went to two other gun shops in the immediate area (not kahr dealers) and they claimed their distributors has dozens of them?
Therefore, I would like to contact the sales rep and find out if they are in stock at the factory or when the next scheduled run of that model gun is scheduled for? ... If anyone has any info that would be appreciated. If the sales rep is reading this, please PM me with your info.

Your local dealers weather Kahr dealers or not do not get their guns directly from the factory. They all go through a distributor.
Back in the good ole days they did go direct but some silly federal law made a middle man requirement.
A shop up here that was very old was actually grandfathered and could buy direct from Colt and Browning and one or two others, sadly they are gone now.
I think if I remember correctly the Kahr website has a list of regional sales managers. Probably the whole west coast is under one person.
I could be wrong but seems I recall that.

Bawanna, its more like economics than any law regarding trade.
Lets look at the basics -
Manufacturers do not make all the items all the time. There may be one, or several items that they do make continually, but over the whole product line, there are runs of this and that.
Scenario A:
Manufacturers sell to job houses, aka Jobbers. Jobbers are larger distributors that order entire production runs of an item. Remember seeing some of those "distributor exclusive" items? Those distributors are jobbers, and can order up non-catalog items because they order up enough of them to make it worthwhile for the manufacturer.
Within overall distribution at the jobber level, is a behind the scenes redistribution network to "regular" distributors, who then sell to dealers.
The big manufacturers like Smith&Wesson, Ruger, Colt (although they're not as big these days), Kel-Tec, anyone on the top ten or so of manufacturers, goes though jobbers. They're moving hundreds, or thousands of items off the line and into one customers hands. They let that customer (the jobber) get things off of their own shelves, and into the hands of distribution. Some jobbers will also sell directly to dealers - at the dealer price, not the distribution wholesale price.
Scenario B:
Smaller manufacturers don't use job houses, but will often instead set up their own sales company. Thing to remember is that "manufacturers" are not "sales companies" automatically. Manufacturers make things, sales companies handle all the ins and outs of doing business with the trade. Keeping them separate lets them do better at what they do. For instance, in my field, the factory sells only to their own "sales company". Profit and loss is all based on that one customer, who happens to be another pocket in the same pair of pants. The factory does zero advertising, it does zero warranty reimbursement, no marketing, nada, zip... it just makes what sales asks for. The sales company has the burden of scheduling product runs with the factory, promoting items, setting prices to the public (or through distribution), running promotions and covering the cost of warranty service. Distributors will all buy from that one sales arm of the parent company. There is plus and minus to this. On the plus side, it can boost profits, but on the minus side, it must also entail a really smartly run sales organization that is able to predict sales trends, or else get stuck with goods they will have a hard time selling (remember, all the same pair of pants, just different pockets). Dealing with 100's of distributors and sizable dealers (aka chains, and really big buyers) can be logistically challenging as well.
Not sure which scenario Kahr uses, but.... I suspect the latter, selling directly to distribution without the jobber interface. Their product line is rather limited, so it can make things much easier and more profitable to do that. Imagine Ruger trying to do that.... no way! Offering several dozen models of bolt rifle, in a score of calibers? They'd need a BIG warehouse to inventory that. Instead, they get a master order for model XYZ in a few calibers, and make it in order to fill a jobber purchase order.
Police and govt sales are yet another thing. Sometimes, those go though the parent company sales arm, even though they sell through jobbers for public distribution. Some sales politics are in place with that.
Factory reps will usually call on Police and Govt, larger dealers, dealers in special sales areas, chains, and distribution. Their job is not to take orders. Their job is to promote the product and company, and keep things moving through the supply chain, and handle the seemingly endless "issues" that arise.
I hope that helps!

I appreciate the lesson but it was simple request ... When I special ordered my CZ75 I posted the same message in the CZ Forum ... the CZ sales rep saw my message and pm'd me with his contact info ... He let me know when the next factory run of that gun model was and that the authorized dealer that I special ordered it through had six coming in that run ... That's it ... I knew the approximate timeframe for delivery. I was not requesting that the sales rep take my order.
CZ-USA is an import company. Kahr is a manufacturer. Subtle difference
