Her daddy had her when he was very, very old (like around 80!) in 1930. She gets the pension as his direct descendant. And she is the last person to get a government pension based on the service of a Civil War soldier of the Army of Northern Aggression.

Mrs. Armybrat's aunt was the daughter of one of Terry's Texas Rangers in the War for Southern Independence. She passed away about 10 years ago. I don't believe Acting Treasury Secretary John H. Reagan (of the Confederacy) granted her a survivor's pension. ;)
