Does anyone have a CM9 and a CM40 that could compare magazine catches for me?
I had an idea that the CM40 mag catch could maybe be used as a very slightly extended mag catch if used in the CM9. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

I've made no first hand measurements/comparison of a bonafide poly Kahr .40 latch, so the following is conjecture on my part:
I imagine there's not much, if any, difference in the magazine catch size between poly 9mm and .40 cal pistols. I say that because when I had a CM9, I also had a PM40 top end for it. I used 40 and 9 mags in that CM9 lower without issue. Further, I believe if there were any differences it would be internal to the frame; meaning the button would probably extend to the same height from the frame for both calibers.
Hopefully, someone will chime in with the measurements you need.

Are the poly mag releases older or newer? Mine is steel...
anyway, that was kind of what I guessed (they are basically the same), but the part numbers for both of them are different so I figured it was worth a shot. I would realy like a mag catch the sticks out just a bit further than the sock one.

I apologize if my post was confusing. My use of "poly" was meant to reference polymer frame Kahr pistols, the latches being made of steel.
That said, there were polymer latches (with a steel insert) on some older guns. My old CW9, that has a pin holding the side plate in place, had one of the poly/metal latches.

There a extensions (https://www.google.com/search?q=extended+mag+release&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjPvoib76vPAhUQ32MKHZTqCRkQ_AUICSgC#imgr c=gjXFg53_Qq2Z5M%3A) that mount to magazine latches (1911s and Glocks come to mind). One could probably made to work with a Kahr latch.
You could just drill and tap the latch for a button head screw that would accomplish the same thing.
Another option would be to have material welded to the latch.

I had the LGS drill/tap/install a 8/40 gun screw on my EDC CM9 mag release button to give me a button .060 higher then the stock button .
works great for a very positive mag drop, and no early release problems w/freestyle,strong hand, weak hand,or carry.

After reading this I think I mightadd a screw to the mag release on my PM9. I have a devil of a time releasing the mag on it while my CW380 works great.
sorry, but I'm a caveman when it comes to this techno stuff! but the fix worked for me without any problems.

Thanks for the info and I guess I am glad to know that I am not the only one who has this complaint.
