...with respect to our moderators, please allow me this indulgence.
Consider this: Trump won and we are giddy with relief. But our work has just begun. It's time to be humble yet STRONG!

The anti-Trumpers think we are just a bunch of homophobic, deplorable, bigots. We need to prove otherwise. We simply want to restore America to her greatness. For decades she's been bending to accommodate the lowest common denominator. It's time to rise to and exceed America's standards.

Wow Tomi said we are Americans Americans Americans and we need to work together etc etc then at the end of her rant lists celebs that are anti Trump who need to go to Canada. Certainly you see the contradiction there. With that said, I do agree with you and the underlying sentiment of the vid. The people have spoken and we have to give the man a chance. However, with that said also, the political system we have is deliberately set up so that change is not favored in our political world. The system is set up so change can be made but, the changes will take time---lots of it. This is to our benefit. None the candidates are Jesus Christ, so don't expect too many miracles any time soon. With all that said, what Trump did do was truly amazing.

Indeed there are lessons to be learned both positive and negative within Tomi's vid. She also emplores leftists to jump on board even though Trump is not "their guy". Yet we've been whining about THEIR guy for 8 years. That's the challange and the point of my appeal. There will be much headwind to overcome. We need to rise above it.
Trump isn't the cure...we are. Trump isn't gonna just hand us our country back. No one person can. We are gonna hafta earn it.

Hence, there in lies the problem.............................many of us " have earned it" already.................the young need to step up, and do their fair share, but.................they can't because they are helpless. They have been conditioned over the last 10 years to be useless, and live off of their electronics, and have absolutely no problem solving skills. Let the gov't solve your problems. The people that need to stand up and fight to get this country back have been in college, being taught bull$#!t from liberal professor's, and living in their parent's basements. Once again, if you want your country back, the older generation must bail out the helpless once again. All up hill from here, trying to learn something in to a generation of zombies, who walk around with their head to the ground, staring at their phone. I probably won't be alive to witness the future carnage, when a couple of generations turn out to be helpless, looking for gov't handouts. This helpless generation is out making babies, who will be taught by a helpless parent. They will need someone to pray for them.................

berettabone, What a spot on post. The young and "self reliant" are rare indeed! Most have had everything handed to them and they feel entitled. Their parents or their government is suppose to supply them with a wonderful life with little effort.

My wife occasionally teaches at a college level in a State system. The stories that she has told me about today's youth would have you shaking your head in disbelief. The millennials, the metro-sexuals, the electronic game players, the skateboarders, all just so helpless. Parent's, who are pay rolling the education full of ground starers, have no clue about what is being put in their heads by liberal professors who actually teach about 100 hrs. a year. The rest of the time is spent, gallivanting around the world, on educational expeditions. What the older generation needs to do, is enjoy the time you have left on this earth. Suck in every drop, because in a few years, when the millennials are in charge, they'll be stockpiling rocks to throw at the enemy. It's better for the environment, and it doesn't leave such big holes. The problems overseas now, will be miniscule compared with the future. The millennials will not know how to handle any type of crises, large or small. They can't even write cursive anymore. They use a printer. They don't even have to think anymore, they just look at their phone for an answer. This country has much larger issues beyond ISIS, Iran, N. Korea, etc. This country needs people who understand how things used to be, just like when my older generation was growing up. Gleaning experience from someone who's been there/done that. I don't see the younger generation instilling certain things in to their children, the things our parents instilled in us. They are becoming the helpless generation, the lost generation, and these are the people who we need to fight for this country. Instead, they will be the true "zombies".

there still are some good eggs out there but your post is a fair warning that the youth need to want change not the older crowd.

Can we make the argument that this wave of zonbies you mentioned are the product of a couple generations where mom and dad have to work to make ends meet so our children were raised by people other than their parents as well as a welfare system that degrades the family unit as well? Am I reaching here?

I can't buy in to the " both parents work" theory because both of my parents worked. It's a percentage I'm sure. The welfare system has a part also. ELECTRONICS changed everything. No more conversations, no more eye contact. A lot of pasty looking kids out there. The fast food industry is tailor made for the millennials. Instant gratification. The only exercise that they get, is walking to the car from a Starbuck's. Attitudes have changed. When I went to the grocery store with my parents, as a kid, if my hand touched anything that didn't belong to me, a slap appeared out of nowhere. If I started crying, or whining about nothing, or couldn't have something, I was always given 2 options........quit, or be escorted to the car, and wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon. Now, I see parents trying to reason with their children, which at young ages is like trying to reason with a dog. Giving in to their children, letting their children control the situation. Giving them stuff before it's paid for, just to quiet them down. Doing anything except the right thing, be the adult. Try to avoid any type of controversy or negativity, because they don't know how to deal with either. Take the easy way out, and just give in. These are the children that grow up expecting everything, and wanting to do nothing for any of it. This is the next generation. These are the parents between the ages of 21-45 who are raising their children under just these circumstances. Anyone who would doubt this, just go to the grocery store and observe. These are the one's who should be fighting for their country, for change. They are just not doing it. These are the age group of people who should be trying to make it better for their children. Instead, they just feed the gratification. They are too busy to be paying attention to the world, instead of looking down, and missing what's up. Instead of Facebooking, and Twittering. These are the people that will be running the country soon..................

I still blame part on most mom's working. And pretty much the second generation of working moms who learned nothing from their moms. I coached baseball and little bit of basketball as my kids grew up and many parents used that as a time to get shed of little Johnny so they could do I know not what. No guidance, some seldom attended games, some were habitually late picking kids up and disappointed when there wasn't a practice or game that fit their schedule.
Usually trouble makers when they did attend games.
But mostly I blame it on the school of positive reinforcement. Thank you Billy for not kicking the crap out of Johnny, now here's some Oreo's, group hug and lets have recess.
My wife stayed home with the kids, gradually went back to work as their school hours allowed. When they were home, she was home. I don't think they ever saw a non family babysitter in their whole life and didn't get left even with parents until they were 3 or 4.
Interesting story loosely related. When my oldest son was little my wife worked for a preschool and he enrolled since she worked there. He was kind of a baby huey for his age group, rather BIG. I built some storage units for the school to hang up their coats and what not and had installed them and was just hanging around watching.
Well all the kids were in this room basically just free for all playing with different toys. My son picked up a toy and was playing when another boy came over and grabbed it out of his hands. He got a rather puzzled look but just grabbed another toy and kept on. Well the same kid came over and grabbed that toy, again a 2nd puzzled look but just grabbed yet a 3rd toy.
Well you guessed it, same kid comes over and grabs that third toy. Son looked over at me with a pleading look on his face and I just nodded. Son just pushed the kid rather firmly in the chest knocking him on his backside and of course he started bawling his eyes out (which I rather enjoyed to be honest).
Well of course the teacher runs over and grabs my son by the ear and starts to scold him for being mean, at about the same instant I grabbed the teacher by her ear and explained the true goings on. Apparently I had good credibility or she was just afraid but no punishment for my son and very little if any for the little delinquent who's probably a congressional aid for Pelosi or something by now.
Not sure exactly how this relates but I felt like telling this true story.

^^^ I've said it before but you tell a great story there Colonel. Keep 'em coming.
I'm sure the social scientists would agree that there is some causation from two-working-parent families. Even more from single-parent families and a whole bunch of other stuff that's been creeping up on us for decades. Trump might have some luck at least pointing us in the right direction towards healing. But we gotta do our part. Reach out and engage those you normally would scorn. Help them understand that our motives are noble. And let's get this economy moving so we can offer our youth some opportunity. And get the gov'ment outta the way so we can fire the lazy ones and reward the productive ones. They'll figure it out.

My mother was a single mom before they were invented....back in the early/mid 50's. Dad walked out and left her with 12, 8, and 6 year old kids to her own devices. No car nor support...nothing. She had to full time work. Scars which I lay at my father's feet I, my brother, and sister have from that. Mom did every damn thing she could for us and we all turned out pretty okay.

Sometimes that works….especially if you have an exceptional Mom. The majority of people aren't strong enough to pull that off. You are very lucky, and I can see that you appreciate her hard work!
