Actor Ron Glass who played Detective Ron Harris from the Barney Miller show has passed away at 71 from respiratory failure.....Glass joins his fellow B.M. Star Abe Vigoda aka "Fish" who passed last January....I still like to watch reruns of Barney Miller which was a really great cop show and am sad to see another cast member cross the river....

71 is kinda young. I watched a re-run last night. WoJo brought in hashish laced brownies, hilarious.

A classic, along with Archie B., and Taxi, one of my favorites of all time. RIP Glass...............

I'm not LEO (our son is) and I have heard that this show actually (in the day) realistically portrayed a police station pretty accurately.
SO….Bawanna….is this true??? Maybe you've never seen the show!!

Glass starred in the TV series and movie Firefly, too.

I watched it a lot. It really isn't far off sometimes.

Barney Miller was one of TV's great shows - the characters were all likable, they didn't shove a political agenda down your throat, and it was funny. Even the opening and closing theme music was great, I used to play the guitar part.

My favorite character was Detective Frank Luger.

RIP

It was a great show. Cynicism at its best.
